Danmarks Radio's very first Børnenes Julekalender for TV. Each day a calendar window is opened and a new story from somewhere in the world is being told, dramatized for children with puppets and actors' voices.

Every episode of Danmarks Radio's Christmas calendar this year opened with an informative film on the works of Red Cross around the world. After that, the two puppet trolls Bonus and Minus took over. The children's Christmas calendar of 1969 is about a couple, Jens and Rie, living in a little gate station. Jens is working on repairing an old car before Christmas Eve, his wife is knitting on his Christmas present - and they have many new tasks to do each day to prepare for the holiday. They also have to attend to their many animals like a parrot, a goat, a puppy, a guinea pig and a hen - all with funny names. Every day they tell a story and occasionally dress up to fit the story.

A family of four elfs live in the Woods. They meet every day for dinner and discuss what they have experienced. And they dance.

Every day miss Gyldenfod gets a visit from mister Vimmelstrup in her old fashioned living room. They kid and tease each other, they play games and they always mispronounce each others names in imaginative ways. They also read from "Morher's Book" about the Christmas preparations supposed to take place that particular day. Also includes a short daily episode of the animated series "The Wombles" (aka "Vumserne").

In pursuit of Santa Claus the two main characters fall into a black pit. Will they ever succeed in finding Santa?

Two children enjoy Christmas preparations in and around the town square where hot-dog stand owner Ella and Christmas tree salesman Karl Emil care for them. A land developer, however, plans to restructure the square completely and to terminale its inefficient coziness.

Santa has lost his good mood, as the bag he kept it in has burst. If Santa doesn't get his good mood back, it won't be Christmas. The elf/nisse agent A-38 sets the Nissebande/Elf Gang, which consists of Mr. Mortensen, Gemyse, Skipper, Lunte and Pil, on the job. In order for him to get his good mood back, the Elf Gang must find the four things that Santa's good mood consists of: a treat for the eyes, a tickle in the nose, a tickle for the ear and a trickle down the back. From their secret hiding place in a mill, the elves go on missions to find the different ones. They send their collected mood samples by bottle mail to A-38 who tests them with a mood-o-meter. At the end of each episode, Lunte serves rice porridge with a dollop of butter on it, which he throws with a spoon. The Elf Gang is also accompanied by St. Bernard's dog Julius, who every evening manages to push Mr. Mortensen out of bed, so he ends up sleeping on the dining table.

Ludvig is a kind and somewhat nerdy owner of a pet accessories shop "Eldorado for dyr", always trying to service the many customers passing by and often assisted by Guddi, the waitress from the downstairs bar. Christmas at the Castle is about a poor kingdom, which must pay war reparations to the neighboring country, either in the form of the king's weight in gold or by marrying Princess Miamaja away before Christmas.
