A reclusive romance novelist Loretta Sage (Sandra Bullock) writes about exotic places in her popular adventure books. On a book tour with her handsome cover model named Alan (Channing Tatum) gets swept up in a kidnapping attempt that lands them both in a cutthroat jungle adventure. Meanwhile , the publicist (Da'Vine Joy Randolph) is demanding to see the latest draft of her book and then she also goes out to look for the writer. Loretta gets kidnapped by an eccentric billionaire who hopes she can lead him to an ancient city's lost treasure from her latest story. Determined to prove he can be a hero in real life and not just on the pages of her books, Alan sets off to rescue her, requiring the help of an adventurer, ex-special forces soldier (Brad Pitt). The adventure is real, the heroes are not !. The jungle isn't ready for this kind of action !. Is Alan hero material?
Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum are the protagonists of this romantic adventure comedy in¨Robert Zemeckis' Romancing in the stone starring Kathleen Turner, Michael Douglas¨ style , but at the same time breaks some stereotypes of the damsel in distress and the man at her rescue. This agreeable comedy-adventure blends unstopped action, rip-roaring, a love story, cliff hunger, tongue-in-cheek and is extremely funny and entertaining enough. This exciting adventure tale concerns a romantic writer -Sandra Bullock- who gets involved in a dangerous journey to find a treasure along with her companion, good-looking cover model Alan: Channing Tatum, who eventually becomes to her ally. Into lush jungles of Dominican Republic, she's abducted by a wealthy young: Daniel Raddcliffe who has his own agenda and rescued by a soldier of fortune named Jack Trainer: Brad Pitt, but then things go wrong. For comic relief with delightful bits of humor are supplied by continuous jokes about relationship between both stars: Channing Tatum and Sandra Bullock. Here Bullock plays Loretta Sage, a writer who, in the middle of the promotional tour for her latest book, is kidnapped by an eccentric millionaire who needs her to find the treasure of an ancient lost city. She is an independent woman in her forties, widowed, but nevertheless, being capable of overcoming any adversity. Tatum is a clumsy man who seeks the recognition of the writer and shows a very different masculinity in this type of films. Channing and Bullock achieve a perfect chemistry that turns any of their missteps on the screen into real laughs for the viewer, which was also contributed by other big names in acting such as: Brad Pitt and Daniel Radcliffe.
The picture contains spectacular scenarios, some nice stunts and funny lines. As well as jaunty and lively musical score by composer Pinat Tropak. Adding colorful cinematography by cameraman Jonathan Sela. Shot on location in Samana, Casa de Campo, Santo Domingo,Republic Dominican, and studios: Pinewood Dominican Republic Studios and Los Angeles , California. The motion picture was decently directed by two competent brothers: Aaron Nee, and Adam Nee. ¨The Lost City¨ results to be their third film, and their biggest budget with top-notch actors; earlier they made: ¨The last Romantic¨ (2006) and ¨Band of Robbers¨ (2015), and some Shorts. Rating: 6/10. The movie will appeal to fans of the four famous main protagonists: Sandra Bullock, Channing Tatum, Brad Pitt and Daniel Raddcliffe.
