Latin America Energy Efficiency Policy in Emerging Economies Training Week
Background information
The International Energy Agency (IEA) is pleased to announce that the next Latin America Energy Efficiency Policy Training Week will take place in person in São Paulo, Brazil, from 2-5 December 2024.
The Training Week aims to build capacity among policy makers from emerging economies, equipping them with greater knowledge and skills to develop and implement effective energy efficiency initiatives in their respective countries.
Since 2015, the IEA has held these week-long training events dedicated to sharing experience with planning, implementing and evaluating energy efficiency policies in emerging economies. These training weeks have brought together more than 2,500 energy efficiency professionals from over 120 countries, primarily from government institutions and supporting organisations in emerging economies.
Training format
The Training week consists of five parallel courses on energy efficiency in: 1) buildings; 2) appliances and equipment; 3) industry; 4) transport; and 5) indicators and evaluation.
Each course offers a combination of lectures, interactive discussions and practical exercises that allow participants to learn from international best practice and from each other.
The programme also includes sessions on assessing the potential for energy efficiency, financing, tracking progress, and communication campaigns as well as exploring the social and economic benefits of energy efficiency measures. The trainers for each stream are carefully selected international experts who bring a number of years of experience from the private and public sectors as well as experience across a range of countries and regions.
The training is aimed at energy efficiency policymakers and practitioners, principally from energy ministries and supporting institutions across Latin America. We may, however, also accept some applications from people in relevant sectors of industry or knowledge-based institutions. While there is no fee to participate in the training, participants will be responsible for paying for their own travel and accommodation.
Women are strongly encouraged to apply.
