PX-375

Continuous Particulate Monitor with X-ray Fluorescence

Continuous elemental and particulate mass analysis with automatic sampling

There has been a growing concern regarding particulate matter (PM) pollution and its effects on health. For effective preventative measures, the determination of source PM concentration is extremely important. Therefore, indication of PM and elemental concentrations is critical. The PX-375 analyzer employs automatic sampling, continuous on-line PM quantitative and qualitative analysis for rapid air pollution measurements.

Division: Ambient
Manufacturing Company: HORIBA, Ltd.
  • Continuous analysis of PM mass and the elemental concentration by a single unit directly in the field.
  • Adoption of world proven technologies: X-ray fluorescence & Beta-ray attenuation.
  • HORIBA's originally developed filter tape provides excellent sensitivity and precise performance.
  • Installed CMOS camera enables observation of collected particulate sample on the filter.
  • User friendly display and operations

* LDL (σ) is half of the LDL (2σ)
* There may be variations in the LDL due to differences between devices.
* Please consult us regarding the LDL of elements not listed in the table above.

Measurement of Black Particles

• The PX-375 can be optionally upgraded with black particle (BP)*¹ monitoring function for easy and cost-effective monitoring of black and dark brown color particles in aerosol or flue gas (e.g. carbon, black nickel, black chromium etc.)
• Fully automated sampling with continuous measurement of 3 different parameters: particulate mass concentration, element concentration, and black particle value by a single unit
• Monitoring is performed by HORIBA patented*² technology utilizing camera image processing algorithms for quantifying the brightness of particulate
matter deposited on the filter tape
• BP indicates elemental carbon (EC) value, based on conversion factors*³ from BP to EC installed by default into the analyzer
• This conversion factors can be adjusted based on customer's standard method
• Easy sensitivity check and calibration of LED and camera by utilizing the neutral density filter

*1 Black particle (BP) is HORIBA's original dimensionless parameter, which expresses the brightness of the reflection from sample collected on the filter tape.
*2 Patented (Japanese Patent No. 7246871, US Patent No. US 10876950, Chinese Patent No. ZL 2018 1 0769558.4)
*3 Conversion factor equation is created by utilizing the measurement data of ambient air PM2.5 particulate matter samples analyzed by the Thermal Optical Reflectance method. The conversion factor can be reset by the user based on their samples and reference method.
