Source caption (Instagram) ARBITER SHADOW 2005. Bungie Studios. This painting was a concept of the Arbiter character for HALO 2. I titled it ARBITER SHADOW as a play on words, since essentially Master Chief "shadows" this alien character in the game when you'd switch to use him as a playable character. At the time I was working on this piece, I was watching ALIEN (1979) and loved how the Nostromo Mining Ship had scenes where light would hit steam and create a sense of atmosphere and depth. Ridley Scott and Akira Kurosawa, are masters of this. The Arbiter would eventually prove to be a popular character and would appear again in HALO 3.
