Emilia perez is lowkey flopping on Netflix, it still didn’t even crack the top 10 US. With all the crazy promo Netflix has been doing for this movie it’s worrying. I don’t think Gascon is as strong as some people think.

So shocked by this!! Even May December got in the top 10 for a few days. I loved her performance but I am not sure about her placement (i had her at 2nd) anymore.

To be fair the crazy promo in question has been almost entirely aimed towards the industry and not the general public. Its been mostly festivals, screenings with the academy, SAG and industry related events. Its almost as if Netflix bought the movie with the sole intention of it being their awards player and nothing else.

I can see EP winning Best Picture, even if I didn’t love the film. It could be the maximum common denominator, the film that isn’t hated and is generally liked enough, kind of Green Book, 2024.

I think we needa figure out dat Emilia Perez and Conclave, which one is SAG’s fav first. if it’s Emilia’s ensemble to lose, then Emilia is still capable to win dat best picture with actor, international and DEI votes.
