i'm guessing a tutorial on whether or not two colours will blend together? hehe.
that could be fun to do.

Or, you know, just rub your face all over it. That works too.
Can I just put in how much I love the brush shape you have here? It makes such wonderful texturing!
It's a reference to the "will it blend" videos.
The guy says "____ smoke! Don't breathe this" after every blending.

It's all about the texture. ;D
The midtone trick is something I started using fairly recently. I'm in love with it.

Is this in Photoshop or SAI or what? or does it apply to all?
That produces a cool painterly look, but have you considered using a low-opacity smudge tool and alternate directions in a shape to remove streaking? Fewer clicks, and a smoother end result.
anyway, to be serious, no.
the smudge tool is more trouble than it's worth.
as far as "clicking," it's not actual clicking so much as it's penstrokes.
hold down alt, poke pen to colour, then stroke.
it's a very fast process and produces a nice painterly, textured look, like you said which....
is... you know sort of my style
i don't want smoother results.

i think bluenire uses it very well, but yeah generally it's a pain.
I, PERSONALLY, found the smudge tool to be more pain than to just paint in my own blending. But I do know other people who love it and use it fairly well too! That being said, I will give this method a try! At least to practice other things and have fun with painting! Thank you Stormy! I do appreciate you posting this! : }
This is what I do! Except I never color nice. I mostly smooth with a low opacity/flow brush controlled by pen pressure to get soft gradients.
This is also helpful for figuring out color schemes/shades of colors to use
