Observation, if they ever did have nostrils it was removed a long time ago...

Indeed. This actually got me thinking and went back over my galleries to check that I was remembering things right and I hadn't gaslit myself :p - I have never deliberately given them nostrils, canonically they aren't meant to possess them, though this was an anatomical trait I ummed and erred over a few times over the years.

And now I can confirm, that yes, the Spore models never had them, nor do any of the Spore-era drawings of them (Of which there is like, 2 examples). There is 2 examples where they did have them depicted; one being a sheet of rough concept sketches when i chibi'd them up to their modern appearance (And shouldn't be taken as canon being a bunch of test sketches), the other being a detailed facial portrtait that i have always hated, something about the angle is off... not sure why nostrils slipped into that, maybe a brainfart on my part.
