Robin Hood - Scents Of The Forest
Dated 08/11/2012
One of philosophy's most well-known questions: If a fox takes his shoes off in the forest and there is nobody around to sniff his feet, do they make a smell?
There's at least one person who already knows the answer.
I'd been planning to do a solo Robin Hood picture ever since my first attempt drawing him with Alan-A-Dale earlier in the year - a picture in which I never felt I'd gotten Robin quite right. I actually started this back in August, but it was one of many projects to be delayed for the sake of carrying out the big 2012 upgrade to my website (more details here, for anyone not yet aware of the relaunch).
For whatever reason, I had an absolute nightmare trying to get Robin to look right in this pose. I didn't want him too hunched over, so I had to draw him pulling his foot up into position, but this caused all sorts of difficulties trying to get his arms and hands right, and I never really came to a solution that I was completely satisfied with. I also had a hell of a time getting his head to fit on his shoulders properly. It was always either too big or looked out of joint, and in the end, I basically settled for 'too big' just so that I could move on. Ultimately, my brain ended up reminding me that Robin is a cartoony character, and I can get away with drawing him in a loose, cartoony style.
Something that will probably seem utterly absurd at first glance: I actually couldn't be bothered with the background on this picture. Seriously! I had been working on the picture with a plain green background and was sorely tempted to leave it that way, but I knew deep down that it would work much better if I could go all the way and create a proper 'Sherwood Forest' setting. The trouble is, I'd never done a proper woodland background before and I cocked it up the first time - everything was too low down and it had a weird cold, stark, autumnal look. So I basically had to scrap it and start again, even though by that point, I'd already spent four late-night US-election-radio-update-accompanied hours doing three layers of intricately detailed trees.
*facepalm*
Funnily enough though, that effort was not in vain - I'd gotten as far as painting in the big tree trunk behind Robin and was looking for something to fill the vast amount of space with on the left, when I had the thought of copying some of the old trees from my failed attempt and stretching them out, the distance blur enabling me to get away with such clumsy last-minute resizing. And when I started applying some dark shadows around to give the suggestion of more trees out of frame, the whole thing just suddenly came together with an incredibly natural look - probably some of the best lighting I've ever done.
Not bad for a rescued cockup that I couldn't be arsed with.
Hoping to have more pictures coming up in the next few days, folks, so watch this space!

How do you do that? Anything feet related, you are always the first to comment.
Heh - there's plenty of work in my gallery that begs to differ!
It probably does smell rather good. :)
And thank you!
And thank you!
It was bound to happen at some point... Heh!
Nah, there was no thought involved on that. I don't personally think fox-like feet suit Robin and I generally prefer padless soles anyway.
Well, they do look pretty smexy that way! Amazing job dude, your art has always been my favorite
If there was a clap Icon I'd use it right now, Amazeing job as always!
OMG THIS.... This is my favourite of all so far! One of my most favourite disney classics, in one of my most favourite fetishes!
Those feet are beautiful (and must be stinky ) a hero who deserves to be treated like a king
You're welcome buddy (How I wish I had those feet in front of me, to give them a ticklish massage )
I was hoping you would do another Robin Hood pic with his feets being the focus of it. This definitely does not disappoint
Well this has been in my plans since the first one, so it was always going to happen at some point!
Thanks!
Thanks!
*giggles* The stench from running all day must be strong isn't it? :3
Not to mention in musty, well-aged old timey shoes...
Bigger question: How does he trim those toe nails in the Middle Ages?
I dunno. But teeth have always existed...
Yay! A new foot fetish pic from Ripster! Of Robin Hood too!
It is quite a fun thing to sample your own foot musk... and Robin has some very musky looking feet there. Maybe I should dress as a rich man, head into the forest and make Robin a special offer? Lots of money with no pursuit if he agrees to force me into smelling those beauties...

Faved for DEM SHOES!
....also, I like Robin Hood.
....also, I like Robin Hood.
Heh! Glad the shoes are appreciated. I'm sure they'd add quite substantially to the fragrance...!
Yay for Robin Hood. Any chance of a non-stink version though? X3
I can produce one - the stink/dirt/sweat is all on separate layers so I can just take them off.
Funny though - I had it in my head that you enjoyed musk? Maybe I was mistaken...

Usually it's only with socks, and even then it can't be nasty musk, y'know?
Oh okay. Well, to be fair, whether the musk is 'nasty' or not depends entirely on what you think of it...!
Hehehe, kinky. ^^ Have you ever thoughta making Robin Macro and have him rampage the kingdom? XD
I may do some size difference or stomp stuff involving Robin at some point, though I can't say what yet.
Great work and detail but ...alas, for me it's killed by the human feet style. =P
Sorry. Matter of personal preference. I don't like Robin with fox-type feet - I'm generally more keen on padless soles anyway.
Nothing to apologize for, it's your piece and style. Still great work. :P
Well probably not, to be honest - I prefer to use my own characters in the submissive roles. Given that I'm not taking requests anymore, I don't really feel the motivation to use anyone else's characters that have no personal meaning for me.
But thanks anyway.
But thanks anyway.
Heh - appreciate the thought but I'm not sure I'll be drawing that. I'm pretty selective over what characters I'm prepared to draw in overtly sexual scenarios, and I don't really think of these guys in that way.
"Never fail to disappoint"? That means I always disappoint you!
Thanks for the sentiment anyway!
Thanks for the sentiment anyway!
Okay that was a very embarassing comment. XDDDD Anyway, you get what I'm saying, that's all that matters. ^^
The right foot looks nice, but the left foot looks noticeably smaller.
Might be easy to notice, but not easy to fix. I realised that problem when I'd drawn them, but fixing it would've involved erasing one of the feet completely and starting again - something which, having felt pleased with the way they came out, I wasn't prepared to do.
In fairness, there is an element of perspective involved - the right foot is laterally closer because it is under his left knee, while the left foot is pulled further away into the centre.

OMG I have been wanting to see a pic of him like this
Looks like they smell pretty good

Damn! You did a great job on the foot soles <3 (The picture in general is nicely drawn!) I miss making digital art so much ;_;
Thanks JWolfsky! Wouldn't mind seeing more coloured art from you, actually.
Well yes... I would've thought the 13 images I uploaded earlier in the week and the massive website revamp would've been evidence enough of that!
Lol!
Lol!
The fairness comes from knowing that none of the rest of us can either. Lol!
Hahaha, good answer x3
Fair enoooough.
Great job on this, as always.
I hope to see more real soon, your art is like crack to me.
Can never get enough.

Hoping to have some more very soon indeed.
Well after reading all that, I'd say you pulled it off perfectly right down to the background. And just that face...XD lol. Just fan-flippn'-tastic man!

Very nice work, sir. :) I like all kinds of feet and paws, so I'm totally down with portraying his feet this way, but was there any thought process involved in choosing this over a more traditional plantigrade animal paw with paw pads? :)
Someone's already asked me this:
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/921...../#cid:62456949
As I say, it's a personal preference of mine. I don't imagine Robin with fox-like feet - this is how I picture him. I'm not crazy about padded soles anyway, hence why I don't draw much of my canine characters.

I'm not certain if his expression is good or not, but you can never be too careful in the wilderness. Specially with nice looking feet D:
I think the expression is up to the interpretation of the viewer. Frankly, I know what I would be thinking in that situation.
wow i love this :) hes one of my fave disney charictors & ive always liked the thourght of burrying my nose into those feet , excelent job as always :) , now will there be a maid marrion follow up? or the evil shierifs wolf feet either would be great to see :)

I'm not likely to do any other characters from Robin Hood (I've already done quite a bit of Robin and Alan-A-Dale this year) and I'm not particularly keen on any of the others either, but I can't rule it out completely.
nomy nomy nomy his feet my teatcher... do you like the story so a lot? ^^
Not sure what you mean - do I like the Robin Hood story? Or do I like this idea?
giggles both if you like this story and idea... i know that you like it my teatcher ^^
I know this story !!! ^^
I know this story !!! ^^
I will never understand about paw fetish. But I respect to the people who loves it...( if you like it just go ahead and enjoy about it ) This is a great art , ooh you are good at drawing mate
Thanks! As for paw fetish, I did actually write something of an explanation of it on my website, if you're even remotely interested:
http://download.lavadomefive.com/me.....boutrrrex.html (especially http://download.lavadomefive.com/me.....rrrex.html#QB6 )
In a nutshell, aside from just liking the look of feet, it's often a submissive desire. You feel attracted to people who are powerful or strong, and being 'underfoot' or 'at their feet' is symbolic of your respect and subordination. While some just like the scent of smelly feet, others are more attracted to the suggestion that to sniff someone's dirty feet is an admission of their superiority, which for many people brings a sense of security from their partner being strong or in control.

mmh it's not my kind of preferences but it's an interesting point of view...Thanks for the info my good friend
That's a very interesting psychological way of viewing of what it is that wires our brains to be attracted to feet. Take for example someone who loves the fantasy of being a foot slave. Like you said, a sense of security when someone is domanating you and is in control. I agree, with you, and a very fine observation
Thanks! I know it's very much a personal viewpoint rather than one I can say with any authority that anybody else shares. But it makes sense to me anyway.
Nobody else i've seen draws feet with such raw dripping sex appeal. Dear lord, you draw some sexy feet.
My favourite pic of yours to date lets see him lick those soles
Faved it in DA and will do so here.
Love to see more of him or don karnage. You have some amazing stuff.

I thought I smelled expired cheese, Robin took of his shoes! *takes deep inhale of cheesy foot scent*
Oh, I'd love for Robin's nose to switch with mine, and it'd be all under his control...
Oh wow how did I not notice this beauty
I bet it's an amazing smell X///3
I bet it's an amazing smell X///3
If you could do one of the sheriff of Nottingham you'd be my new fave artist
robinhood with a foot fetish. love to get my paws on one of them
Amazing, you should do more solo pictures of characters indulging themselves in their foot musk
