Yeah, STALKER it pretty awesome. Keep an eye out for the MISERY mod for CoP, hopefully 2.0 will come out before Thanksgiving.
I tend to stick with the STALKERS from mid-game, joining one of the end game factions detracts from the story because you spend most of your time in the Zone acting as a fire brigade since neither group can hold anything for more then a hour.
