"I was so happy with this one, I've decided to keep it. But I have several other pieces of turquoise that I'll be carving and wrapping in sterling silver, much like how I did this one. I got a massive box of Dremel bits, polishing wheels and jeweler's rouge for a ridiculously cheap price. Weee... A new flex-shaft, too, to save my poor hand the cramping. Heh. Pity I'm not up to making my own box-chain, though- that would be awesome, but it is beyond my skills at the moment.
Cool thing about turquoise: when you carve past the already "aged" parts of the stone, you get to a lighter material. Then, after wearing it for a while, it gets this gorgeous deeper colour with a hint of translucence because of skin oils. Looks awesome after a few weeks of wearing. This pic was taken shortly after carving it- the pendant has a rich blue-green developing now, and the trefoil really stands out from it's background. <3
