Kickin' off Shark Week with a Great Hammerhead! This is for devlexuswolf's Shark Week Sketch Jam on DA.
I probably haven't drawn a hammerhead since I was a little kid. I used to have a bit of an obsession with them thanks to the cover of Goosebumps: Deep Trouble. Hated the story, but loved the shark on the cover.
Great Hammerheads are considered endangered, largely due to over-fishing because it's sought after for its large fins--desirable for shark fin soup.

AFKAFJaf hammerheads are the best sharks ever. And the rusty orange-colored ones are even better. (Seriously, I've been thinking about them a lot because I made [url=http://www.furaffinity.net/view/5973055]a character[/b] that is part hammerhead.)

They are the derpiest looking things, but I love 'em to death. I just wish I could make a hammerhead anthro that didn't look goofy as hell, ahaha.

Yeah, that's a problem I was having with her, actually. XD So I sort of...decided she was part mako (makos are awesome-looking too; THEIR TEEEEEEETH) so she could have a slightly more, er...normal face.

It's really horrible how sharks are slaughtered and how nobody care because they are feared. You really captured the grace in the move and I like the "splatch" effect beyond it!
It is :C Seems a lot of my favorite animals that are in plight, like Gharials, are ignored simply because they're not ~PWECIOUS WITTLE PANDAS~ or something. I think people are becoming more aware of shark finning and how awful it is, though, so that's good. Really good.

I just plopped on a scratchy metal texture and set it to overlay. I think I messed with the levels a bit too, but uh... voila? It's pretty easy :3 If you need help with textures or anything, you can note me and I'll try to help.
I love the texture in the pink in the background. Sharks have to be some of the coolest creatures ever! <3

Ugh.I don't know what it is with freaking sea over-fishing but it needs to stop.So many animals nowadays are getting endangered just for a "delicacy". These are animals we need to live in harmony with to maintain the balance of nature.If we don't maintain that balance,Things usually don't go that well in the long run.

I still don't see how people are afraid of EVERY shark they see... I end up swimming next to them all the time.
It's really messed up down here in Florida... The tourist morons always go screaming in terror "IT'S A SHARK, OMFG! KILL IT!" It pisses me off to no end. ;~; Sharks don't usually attack people unless they're a particularly aggressive species. Sharks just tend to bite or nip at things... they have no hands or anything else to really investigate, so I don't blame them.
