Nice to see the Anaconda's glottis just above the chin of the next meal in line. This cartilage- reinforced tube enables snakes to swallow huge prey with no danger of suffocating as would be the case with mammals attempting such a feat. After a very successful hunt, (like trapping a whole colony of ground squirrels in a burrow), once the serpent's long stomach if fully stuffed, it can continue to feed until their entire throat right up to the back of its mouth, (much like in this artwork) can be fully packed with squirming prey as well.
Since they didn't put up a struggle, the anaconda keeps them as dessert for later while swallowing everyone else instead.
