A promotional image for one of my writing projects set in an interplanetary Russian space civil war showing the meeting of the two protagonists. A fennec fox working as a scrapper and general junk trader, Earbram Fenley investigates the landing site of an escape pod from the Imperial destroyer Sched'ryy [Generous], shot down by Shibeviet forces. There he meets Ioshibe Borkovski, an Imperial officer and [to both of their knowledge] the only survivor of the shootdown.
Despite current events in Ukraine which I am very much displeased by (in which I wholly support the Ukrainian side), I actually came up with the ideas for and started working on an early version of this setting all the way back in 2018, as part of an ongoing interest in both the First World War and subsequent Russian Civil War. In the process of downscaling this image for FA unfortunately some small details were lost, such as Gabelandian acceptance marks on the rifle stock as well as mismatched serial numbers on the bolt, receiver, and barrel.

A space capsule is crashed into a desert against a pinkish-red sky, leaving a trail of thrown up dirt and glass shards formed from the kinetic energy of the impact. There is gray cyrillic text on the green upper section of the capsule reading ЩЕДРЫЙ, transliterated as "Sched'ryy" and translating to "Generous". Tall plumes of smoke rise into the air from smaller fires around the crash site. A tan-colored fennec fox, dressed in a khaki-brown shirt with brown pants and rudimentary khaki webbing approaches the crash, holding a rifle with the thumb and pointer on the bolt and middle finger on the trigger in the British "Mad Minute" style.
