Jamie took a deep breath as he stared across the ring at his opponent. Lucario looked pretty tough, even without the spikes that were protruding from his chest and paws, which he had removed for safety reasons. The Fighting/Steel type was wearing a pair of red boxing gloves, while Jamie wore his customary green. From the sidelines, Kale and Remy watched the two, Kale absentmindedly biting his lip and Remys normally constantly-wagging tail unmoving. The Golden Retriever looked at his otter friend anxiously, wondering how hed do.
Kale sighed and got up into the ring, motioning both combatants to the center as he did. Alright, these are the rules as they stand. Youll both fight a roundless match until either a KO or a TKO. Youll be allowed three downs, and during those downs you are not allowed to continue assaulting your opponent. Do you both agree?
Jamie and Lucario nodded, both looking at one another. Lucario had a few inches on Jamie, but only due to his large, pointy ears. Other than that, the two were the same height. Kale motioned for them to tap gloves, and they went back to their respective corners after they did. Remy slipped Jamie a blue mouthguard that the otter shoved into his mouth, nodding his thanks towards his friend before turning his gaze back on Lucario. The Pokemon had his own mouthguard in, also blue, that had been slipped to him by the Blaziken that was serving as his corner mon.
Kale stepped out of the ring and walked over to the bell, ringing it to start the match. Jamie and Lucario both stepped out from their corners, their hands raised in orthodox guards. They eventually came to the center of the ring, Jamie deciding to make the first move by throwing a left jab-right cross combo at Lucarios face. The Pokemon raised his hands to block it, stepping back and circling Jamie before making his own move and feinting a left jab at the otters stomach before shooting out a right straight at his jaw. Jamie bent backwards to avoid the straight, his flexible body allowing him to let it shoot over his head a fingerwidth in front of his face. The otter backed away and got his guard back up, starting to circle Lucario as the Aura Pokemon did the same.
Remy looked at Kale as the roo came back over to him. Do you think he can win?
Kale shrugged. Well see.
Meanwhile back in the ring, the two fighters had engaged again. Lucario took the offensive this time with a vengeance, throwing barrages of constant jabs and crosses toward Jamie in various locations. The otter blocked two punches but erfed and doubled up slightly as Lucario landed a jab to his stomach. Lucario kept the assault coming, now throwing uppercuts and hooks into the mix that kept knocking Jamies guard to one side, allowing him to land several more jabs. Jamie managed to get his guard back up and block a series of other blows and even managed to fire off some back, but Lucario blocked them and kept driving him back across the ring, feinting a right hook at the otters temple. Jamie moved his arms to block it, allowing Lucario to shoot a left jab into his nose. Jamies head snapped backward and his eyes involuntarily shut, allowing Lucario to land a quick right uppercut to the otters gut. Jamie doubled over then was sent stumbling again by a right cross to the side of the head.
Jamie stumbled backwards, rubbing his nose with one glove. He glanced back at Lucario and his blue eyes widened, just in time for Lucario to shoot a hard right uppercut to the chin. Jamies head snapped upward, the blow hard enough to smack him off his feet, the otter giving a loud cry as he flew a short distance before hitting the ground on his back.
Lucario stepped backwards a short distance, a confident smirk on his lips and his red eyes narrowed slightly in satisfaction as he watched Jamie stir and eventually stand as Kale counted out. Jamie managed to get up on four, and turned around to face Lucario again, his gloves up. The otter was panting lightly, nodding at Lucario. Youre pretty good.
Lucario nodded back, making a beckoning motion, for Jamie to come at him. The otter obliged, stepping in quickly and throwing a left hook at Lucarios ribs. Lucario blocked the hook with one glove and shot out a left jab at Jamies nose. The otters head jerked to the side, the jab grazing his face as the otter sent a right straight at the Aura Pokemons nose. Lucario gave a loud bark as his head snapped backwards. Jamie followed up with a left uppercut for Lucarios gut, causing him to double over and cough saliva, wheezing before Jamie landed a hard right hook to his jaw. Lucario went stumbling to the side and nearly slipped and fell, but managed to put his other footpaw down, steadying himself. Breathing with a slight wheeze, he looked at Jamie, impressed at the otters comeback.
Both raised their gloves again and went forward, before going at it again. A right cross from Lucario was blocked, then countered with a right hook for his temple. Lucario ducked and threw a left uppercut at Jamies jaw, the otter jerking his head backwards and taking a few steps away from Lucario to dodge the hit. Jamie then stepped back in and threw two left jabs at Lucarios nose, which the Pokemon blocked and countered with a right hook to the cheek that caught Jamie perfectly flush, rolling the otters cheek up and snapping his head to one side with a line of drool flying from his mouth. Lucario then landed a left jab to his nose, then two right uppercuts to Jamies belly that had the otter doubling over again. Lucario finished it up with a right haymaker for Jamies jaw, the punch ramming into it and throwing the otter to the side. Jamie hit the ground on his front this time, laying there as Kale started counting once again. Lucario was panting lightly now, but his confident smirk was still on his lips as Jamie struggled to stand, managing to do so on eight.
The otter was breathing heavily now, looking a bit punch drunk as he put his guard back up.
Come on, the otter thought. Focus. You can do it.
Lucario raised one eyebrow, his smirk growing almost to a fully-grown grin as he put his guard back up. This time he took the offensive, stepping in quickly and throwing a variety of punches at various spots on Jamies body. The otter backed up and blocked as best as he could, though more often than not the punches slipped through and nailed their targets, or landed glancing blows. Jamie grunted with each punch, blocking one and countering with a left jab at Lucarios chest. The Aura Pokemon easily smacked the blow aside and landed a hard right uppercut to Jamies ribs. Jamie yelped and clutched the impact point with one hand, allowing Lucario to land a hard left uppercut to the otters belly. Jamie coughed saliva and doubled over, his mouthguard flying out of his mouth before Lucario finished him off with a final hard right to the chin. Jamie stumbled backwards and then hit the ground on his back. Kale looked into the ring and saw that no count was needed; Jamie had been knocked cold. The roo sighed as Lucario walked over to the side of the ring, brofisted the Blaziken, and began taking his gloves off. Remy and Kale got into the ring and walked over to Jamie, Remy patting the otters face to wake him up. Jamies eyes fluttered and eventually opened and he groaned. Everything hurts he muttered.
I wonder why, since you just got your tail kicked, Kale said, giving a joking grin as Jamie and Remy glared at him. The two helped Jamie up as Lucario and Blaziken came over to them, Lucario extending a hand to shake.
Jamie took the hand and grinned, nodding at Lucario. Nice job. We should have a rematch sometime.
Lucario smiled and nodded, then walked out with Blaziken, his gloves around his shoulders. Kale looked at Jamies face and torso, then shrugged. Lets clean you up a bit. You look like a mess.
Remy and Jamie laughed, then the three went to the locker room.
