At first I thought this was the next part of Keeping Tabs. Either way, I feel as though everyone needs to hear this right now. Thank you.
Thank you.
You're right. We're a community, not just the furries but the LGBTQ and we're all in this together. We'll have each other's backs and we'll help each other out through thick and thin. No matter what we do and no matter where we go.

It's gonna have to take everyone, and that includes the people that piss you off, it also includes the people that don't want to think about bad things and just want to have fun on their time off from work.
We're gonna have to speedrun community, but it is possible. We're going to have to scramble for solidarity.
If at all possible we have to stop Trump from gaining power at all costs, and that's still legally possible via the electoral college, but it'll take a lot to twist their nuts.
Like a general strike and blackout boycott, shut down the economy during the zenith of Christmas shopping.
Or maybe something more practical, it's the first thing I've seen that isn't complete nonsense like a change dot org petition, so I'm not sure if this is a good first step. I'm pretty sure this won't happen tho.

dude, no. We already went through this exact thing eight years ago, and it hurts and it stings and it’s going to be a miserable time, but ultimately what’s done is done and no recounts or strikes or Official Acts (or coup attempts, as they tried) are going to change that.
The only way out is through, and the only way through is together. I understand fantasizing about a reality where… this isn’t happening, but right now the most important thing is to be there for each other to make sure we all survive to fight back once we’ve had time to grieve and process.

Everything Trump did to this country wasn't undone, hell the postmaster he appointed was unable to be changed, which is why there's all that mail-in ballots lost.
All the judges he appointed are still there, and worst of all everyone's numb to the constant terrors.
On top of that, we don't really have a central news network that is controlled by the people anymore, in 2020 twitter changed the algorithm to suppress protests and other political news, and Musk's changes are even worse. Yeah bluesky exists, but that's not a replacement for twitter. People went everywhere and you're not gonna be seeing news on BLM, ICE raids or CHAZ like we did in 2019.
Yes, people will survive this... but we won't. There will be some who are displaced, ruined, and killed.
It's absolutely not going to be like 2016, hell it won't be like 2020A if Trump was still president. It's going to be so much worse.
We're not going to be inconvenienced, we're not going to be annoyed, our lives are at stake and the fact the prevailing mood is "Dude I don't wanna think about it, it's not that bad, stop being a doomer" means nothing's going to be done about it.
People will be like "it's not that bad" "it's not going to go that far" until one day people will ask how you let this happened and whoever's left will say "we didn't know"
I keep seeing "don't comply in advance" but like, just accepting this is going to happen is exactly complying in advance!
Tho I do agree the only way through is together, but I'll add "together" includes people that are too busy for politics and don't care what happens to other people. I just don't see a future where millions of lives don't get ruined because we all stood together. I see terror on one end and willful ignorance on the other.

When I say “we already went through this in 2016”, I mean spending November/December/January trying to figure out a way to keep him out of office. Most of us remember spending November 2016 desperately hoping there would be a way to keep him out of office, I even donated that bogus “recount effort” run by Jill Stein as a dumb 17 year old back then.
I’m saying we need to work with what reality has given us and focus right now on strengthening our community and being there for each other so that as few of us die or lose our homes as possible. I wish we could keep the fascists out of power too, but the ship has already hit the iceberg and we need to help each other to the lifeboats, not try to find a way to seal the hull. That isn’t dooming or complying in advance, it’s preparing ourselves to persist— we resist by showing that even in power they cannot erase us.

Ahh, sorry for the misunderstanding. Yeah, I supported Stein too... honestly kinda feel like voting's been a sham for a long, long time now...
Yeah, I guess there's too much apathy to stop Trump from gaining power, and honestly everyone that coulda left the country, left a while back, so the only option is survive in fascist USA.
Honestly the past few days I've gone from sliver of hope to hopeless and pretty much all I can do is make sure I keep talking to my friends in threat of suicide. The most harroring part is how fashy a lot of self-identified lefties have become.

I want a hug, nothing so grandiose... just a simple hug can make the whole week much better
God knows I nearly broke down crying as it became apparent what was going to happen. Just how many awful people live in this country. We can't let despair win, though. They win if we do.
I wanted to come back and thank you for sharing this. I was in a really dark place when you first posted this, and I wasn't as receptive to what you were saying as I should've been - I'm sorry for bringing that darkness in with me like I did.
I'm still a long way from OK, but... I'm still here, at least for today. I'll just focus on getting through today, and then tomorrow, I'll try to do it again. And again, and again, until something changes.
