While I was on vacation in Hawaii for the month, I decided to draw something for myself.
As a kid, one of my favorite things was the Disney Afternoon, and my favorite show was "Talespin."
Lo and behold, there was a "Toontober" event on Twitter (https://x.com/toontober), and one of their themes was "Disney Afternoon." It was the perfect excuse to make this image. The image was no easy task, and I ended up redrawing each character a few times, but I am happy with the end result.

You know, it bugs me how he was presented in Duck Tales, not sure how I wanted him to be, but that didn't have the right feel to it.
Don't even get me started.
The new Ducktales was hit or miss with me-- some of it I absolutely loved, and some of it I did not care for. I don't think it was a good idea for Kit to look dumpy like Baloo. Why do male bears have to become big and dumpy, while female bears are ultra-lean? I feel Kit would be pretty fit. Molly... she was ok, I guess. They went with her "Danger Woman" thing, which isn't what I expected, but I guess it works. Also, why no Becky? Sally Strothers was alive, last I checked, so why not have her still running the business, and show what she looks like?
DON KARNAGE was the ultimate offense. I'm sorry, but he looked like a poorly-constructed Muppet, and was musical for some reason. Also, WHY was he the only character that did not die/age? It would have been kinda cool to see an older, yet hardened Karnage.
With their take on Darkwing Duck, everything sorta stayed the same. NONE of the characters were older/dead, and the designs were just modernized. I appreciate the lore aspect, having Huey, Dewie and Louie's mom attend flight school with Kit... but not at the cost of changing my favorite Disney Afternoon show's characters so much. While I respect the artists' hard work on revamping the Disney Afternoon shows, I must admit that I hope they DO NOT keep those designs for the Talespin reboot... should a reboot ever happen.

Sorry, I hit a nerve. I mostly agree with you but there are a few points I'd like to cover if you don't mind, if you know all of this, sorry, just, since it wasn't mentioned directly. None of this changes the fact that I can't stand how they handled Kit which was to kinda make him an inferior version of Baloo.
First off, Darkwing Duck. It may seem weird given that Launchpad was in both shows, but canonically, Darkwing Duck and Ducktales did not happen in the same universe, which is why you don't see characters like Megavolt and Liquidator until the multiverse episode... Yes I know there were other overlapping characters, I'm just saying the person who made Darkwing said with emphasis "Different universes".... And I will be honest. He wouldn't be Darkwing without it, but I could have survived them leaving the cringeworthy ego out...
My personal head canon is that the original Darkwing show was Launchpad's fanfiction from when he was a kid which was why he was Darkwing's sidekick...
Don Karnage, meanwhile, they have stated it's not the same person. He apparently a nephew or something of the original character who inherited the title. Similarly there's only one or two of the skypirates who overlap. They could have done a better job of stating that fact in the show c.c but the reason he physically looks different was intended to imply they are different people. Which I believe is where the flying musical circus comes in.
I think what I would have wanted is to see Kit as something more like a Nathan Drake type character, I assume the deal is that they didn't want to bury the lede by making him more interesting than the title characters.... I mean... You could really, really easily lose the main story that way by having the story be that Becky and Baloo disappeared during a job. All that was ever found was The Sea Duck, in mostly working order, though missing its cargo, pilot, and the plane's owner... Kit and Molly were away at school at the time, but came home to Cape Suzette when they were notified, seeking to find out what happened, if nothing else to make sure they had a proper funeral. There have been leads, but everything they discover seems to make the situation weirder and more complicated. Kit and Molly have confronted the original Karnage, missing an arm, and a leg, his flying days long over, and Karnage swears he would know if anyone in the pirating world had something to do with the disappearance. They will never be friends, but Baloo and Karnage developed a sort of mutual respect over the years, and Kit believes Karnage when he says he knows nothing. For the past few years they have been supporting them selves on freight and charter flights while they search for clues of the truth...
Like... It's really easy to bury the Ducktales story if you do the characters justice....

I somehow missed that the new Karnage is a different character. That is actually a bit of a relief, but still somewhat of a disappointment that the OG Karnage was not there. Still, I am happy there was SOME Talespin representation.
Your idea for the "missing Baloo and Becky" story is actually not bad, and I do agree that a "Nathan Drake" version of Kit would have been a kick-ass idea. Would have liked that a lot more than "Beta Baloo," but different writers have different ideas.

Yeah there was a lot that was snuck in with a wink and a nod, for instance at a point they started animating Scrooge using his walking stick as a pogo stick to attack with which was a direct reference to the videogame, the Gummi Bears reference, I've watched the whole series multiple times and I'm still finding shit they snuck in... Bonkers even makes a brief appearance somewhere.
*Holds up index fingers* Not saying the series doesn't have problems, this specific story very much being one of them.
Anyway, yeah, I'm kinda a amateur writer... I'm surprisingly good at coming up with plots, especially fanfiction plots... I am less good at keeping my self to task writing .

I think Ducktales was the only Disney Afternoon show that reached 100 eps, but that may be because it started before the Disney Afternoon was planned.
The hardest part of any Talespin fanart is having the theme song stuck in your head the whole time.
Tailspin was always a favourite of mine, along with swat kats. You sir, have well amd truly done this justice.
Talespin was a wonderful show. The Sea Duck was always a fav plane of mine. Don Karnage was fun but man did its version of Shere Khan make a great villain.
A kids show with aerial combat was a hell of a thing when I was growing up. Such a damn good show. There's a hobby shop near me that has an R/C version of the Sea Duck that somebody scratch built. I'm so tempted to ask if it's for sale so I can properly paint it and learn to fly it
NGL if I saw that, the first thing I would do is ask if it was on sale.
Unfortunately I've never flown an RC aircraft, so I would be worried about breaking it if it was for sale
