Caught between revealing the errant branch of the Harcourt lineage via either word or memory, and hers and Edwin’s promise to keep him secret, Gael warned the vampire that he would not like that information. Instead, Knight Falke accepted a Geas, and was released from giving that particular memory.

Her condition? Place a curse of a barren bloodline upon Siegfried the next time she sees him, to be broken only by his marriage to a vampire, or the direct relative of one.

When you make deals with vampires, you’ll always lose.
