Context from the owner:
"In the distant past of an alternate reality, mated pair Zen and Divinity lived alone in the mountains with the intent of being secluded from a nearby human settlement. During a particularly cold winter, which had made hunting much harder for the pair, Zen decided to take on his humanoid form and venture into the town for some food. Divinity rested in the cave, knowing full well that her mate would return, one way or another. As the days passed however, she grew increasingly worried. Eventually, she mustered the strength to venture down, only to find the settlement razed. After searching for what felt like weeks, she found her mate in a comatose state, weakened and injured beyond what her innate draconic magic was capable of healing. With the last of her strength, she instead chose to curl around him and contain her power in a small bubble, the purpose of which was to keep her dying love alive… at the cost of her life. The two dragons lay motionless in the ruins of the town for thousands of years, accumulating layers of ice and snow around them until they blended with the terrain. They were eventually discovered by the Rouhkke Institute of Science, whose recent breakthroughs in cybernetic engineering and artificial intelligence allowed them to construct a frame nearly identical to Divinity’s deceased, but perfectly preserved, body. After construction, and with the assistance of the future’s technology and some residual draconic magic, her mind was flawlessly transferred from her organic body to her enhanced mechanical one and, after a shaky awakening and coming to terms with her new reality, she was given the choice to use her own body to again continue to heal her mate, which she agreed to without question. Though she was initially uncomfortable with the method required to heal Zen, she did what was necessary and quickly adapted to her new situation. Now, she waits longingly for the day she can feel her mate beside her, alive and well… though she doesn’t much mind the comfort of feeling him safely secured within her armored body."
