Original Species: Gorothian Chunky Egger
For those who might have expected a chicken in the domesticated animal roster, PSYCHE! The people inhabiting the continent of Arcadia have lizards instead.
The Gorothian Chunky Egger is one of the more productive and easy-to-handle livestock-lizards. This scaly herbivore lays multiple clutches of eggs during the year, making it an economically viable breed. On top of that, it is a bulk feeder; stemming from the harsh and arid steppes around the country of Gorothia, it tends to eat in excess, bulk up, and then hibernate until conditions improve (a.k.a, when food is around). This makes it a good meat-provider, likened in taste to wildfowl but more delicate (if kept in stress-free conditions)
Typically eggs are harvested after feeding events, when the females fall asleep. Upon waking up and noticing that the eggs have been taken, the female Eggers lay a new clutch to compensate for the lost ones (usually within a week or two since they last laid eggs).
The wild relatives of the Chunky Egger are far more diligent when it comes to protecting their brood and usually breed only 1-3 times a year (perhaps at some point the wild species will also be explored here).
