One continent in the Red Riding Hood world. I drew this up in my spare time, bit by bit, then started applying colors and names. I pulled back from naming every single river and lake so I wouldn't crowd too many of the features with lettering. Some of you may noticed I borrowed some races from New Worlds. There are other areas that existed in New Worlds only as a part of my unpublished notes. They proved to be a pretty rich resource for ideas.
I have ideas for an epic tale of adventure coalescing in my mind. Feel free to ask questions, but don't expect spoilers. I may slowly do entries and elaborations on individual features, races, and lands in the future, as this idea takes further shape.

Really nice - just the overall concept of the differing enclaves of human and anthro species and the interaction between them is exciting.
does that same world also have haiku, also what other beings live there, that just looks like a world where there would be diffrent speices, will we get to see them all at some point :D
I really love it when artists/writers put a lot of thought and effort into fleshing out the worlds seen in their art/stories. And I adore maps. Great stuff!
Functional magic, and if so, what grade?
Common/mundane, common/epic (as in D&D), rare/epic (works that echo across the centuries) or rare/mundane (strangely, Lord of the Rings is in this section. The great mage Gandalf can... light pinecones on fire.)

None. Just natural phenomenon and forces mistaken for magic by primitive people.
Okay. I did wonder after seeing the places starting with X, see...
Apart from that, let's see... continental scale, I assume? If so, there better be a good reason for that desert there (such as rain shadow) and equally for the low region between the two mountain chains (either it's a stylized way of showing a network of passes, or it's a relatively low recion between two low angle thrusts), and then there's...
oops, my geologist's showing.

Sounds like you're already providing explanations for your own little nitpicky crap. I don't have to provide them, in that case.
Yes, when people offer constructive criticism of your little map, the best response is to be rude and discourteous rather than, I don't know, see it as an opportunity for future improvement?
Oh noes, a fictional work done by someone who probably have less spare time than nerds like me does not 100% comply to real physics. Let me be an asshat and point out flaws in a rude manner!
What, someone calls me out on my idiocy?! Surely they are discourteous. SHOCKING!

When you start a "critique" with "There better be a good reason for..." be prepared to be reminded that you aren't my boss or my father.
Your wording made you come off as a condescending dick itching to show off. That's not constructive.
If you'd asked if I *intended* to make it geologically realistic, I would have explained that I hadn't and my priorities are elsewhere. But you simply launched into your assumptions.
You were also offering explanations for your points in your "critique". If it's "critique" there wouldn't be explanations you could offer to explain the map's topography. it would just be "incorrect". But as your explanations pointed out, they aren't incorrect.
And don't argue with this, because I'm just offering constructive criticism on your comments.

You handle things like a boss. Why haven't you been made leader of a nation yet?
I See that some of the island is going off map whish tells me theres more to this New World which Ill be looking forward to this:D
nice work you did there ! i like the idea you used for these names, also, i noticed the dead lake with alot of circle, it's the place with the asteroid fall off ? :)
are they going to have a culture and society or are they going to be the savage type?
You need some Ice lands as well, would be great to have them. Otherwise, very good work, keep up on it.
Its layout strongly reminds me of "Calabria". Except the mountains are lain out different.
Haven't played Ironclaw. But if it looks like a landmass blob, it'll look like any other landmass blob from a considerable distance.
Now worries, I always appreciate cartography even if its fantasy based. :">
Would you consider doing a story with the equine tribes in the future?
I looked at the eastern side of the map and thought the same thing. It looks like Haiku has some influence from what I've read in the other comments.
This idea certainly took off. I suppose that's how the best are. They grow like a plant into new and unexpected territories. Very organic. Fantastic stuff.
That's actually a very well designed map. All too often I see maps with landscapes that don't make much logical sense at all... Such as people placing some snowy mountain right next to a volcano (o___O)
Very nice work Jay :3

Yeah, True! I'm thinking more of neopets-style map, where there are cookie cutter biomes that are illogically placed side by side. XD; Then again Magic can "explain" everything :P
I love making maps like this! im terrible at it, but I try. This is good work Fisk!
Would you mind if I used your map for a D&D game, Fisk? Its so pretty, and detailed! It would make a wonderful prop!
The Xespin are gigantic flying wasps the size of horses. The Xogorrean Ecology is an ecology comprised of a variety of things.
Are the Xespin just animals, or civilized in some fashion?
Complicated in a spoilertastic way, a journal way, or a "not right now" way? I'm always interested in bug species.
They aren't civilized in a traditional sense. I have some idea, but it's not fully fleshed out, yet.
Ohh. With regards to intelligence, that kid of sounds like EE Knight's grogs. Grogs are Sasquatch in appearance. The book first introduces the common ones, which have gray hair, can plan only three days ahead, and if they learn English they can only grunt but they do understand simple sentences: subject, verb, object, two adjectives. They're great craftsman and artisans, and can make beautiful things out of junk, from household items to furniture to guns. Golden Ones are larger, have fawn colored hair, and the character we know in the books, Ankah, is fully literate in Earth classics, and speaks with excellent diplomacy. They both have full respect for each other, Grey ones and Golden Ones consider each other brothers.
Do you have names in your mind for the rivers, lakes, and oceans? Also this is just one continent on the planet correct?
I miss that other comic world you did like a few years back. I thought it was really creative.
Are the inhabitants of the Lapine Enclave in any way related to the Wolf Tribe?
No. The Lapine are a society motivated almost exclusively by fear. They're heavily fortified.
On a side note, you may be mistaking "Lapine" (rabbit) for "Lupine".
Beautiful! You didn't get inspiration from a map generator, did you? The map actually makes sense geographically, which is quite a feat, whether you realize it or not. I especially like the added detail in water depths.
Could I make a tiny request? Miles/kilometers scale and compass rose please?
Could I make a tiny request? Miles/kilometers scale and compass rose please?
No generator, just drawing by hand. I'm sort of avoiding scale right now.
Heh, no problem. Promise me you'll do it within the next four decades though, ok? ^^
It's not very hard. Just scan, stitch, level adjust, and color on layers underneath.
You're talking to a writer, not a computer wizard. I prefer Campaign Cartographer 3, though, but it works.
Awesome!
You could do a guide to the RRH-verse for a small project between bigger ones!:3
I'd love to learn more about it!

Amazing how all this started as just a story Huckleberry Ann told, and by now its developed into it's own entire universe.
will there be any crazy race of a mutilated or myth like creatures?
all in all i think its cool
also whats farther north, it cuts off?

Some of the geological features don't seem terribly likely, but what the hell... it's a fantasy world, and not a serious one.
dude Xichi kinda reminds me of mordor from lord or the rings cept its not big lol
Really the only question I have would be a spoiler to answer. So far I've enjoyed the "Red Riding Hood" series, but I personally am hoping that you won't take the oft-trodden plot track of "Furries overthrow and/or enslave pathetic humans".
It's your comic and you can do what you want, but that plot has been played to death already, and it would be a large determinate on whether or not I would purchase the comic, or subscription.

Not really planning to continue that vein in the same light, no.
Not "in the same light", so it's still a part of the theme?
I'm not going to pry too deep, since I don't want to be spoiled, but forgive my speculations.

It exists as a feature, but not a theme. And reaction/effectiveness will be variable.
Are the Humans, Elves, and Renarians the dominate groups on the continent?
I ask because you have the font for them larger than the others. I thought that it might have some meaning behind it.

I'm glad to see you expand the world beyond the storyline of RRH. Sorry for my previous RRH comments.
So what are Renarians?
So what are Renarians?
Any landmass blob drawn on a portrait oriented sheet would probably remind you of that.
sheesh, and they're all on one continent?
How do they co-exist without tearing/fucking each other to pieces?

It looks veeery cool. I love fantastic and epic stories. Have you read "Chorines of the Dragonlance"? I think you may like them, I do xP.
A question about this World, will be there some snowy places? (I mean, not just the mountains) like an always (or mostly) snowy place, similar to the Siberia we have in our world, or with more trees and lakes... I dunno, something like that.

Maps like that are fun to draw. I used to make up little worlds all the time when I was a kid, and I used to like drawing cities, before I started drawing furries
Ooh... Dead Lakes... Vissli Swamp... Last Chance... Sounds like the path of a quest full of despair, quicksand, carnivorous plants, and a tribe of seductive assassin bats.
Probably not. They probably fell asleep and Mary Ann's fevered brain is continuing.
is it just me or does the overall layout looks quiet like the map of "morrowind" o.o ?
According to others, it looks like every other map from every other fantasy game/book/series.
Man, is your Red Riding Hood story turning into some massive multi-chapter epic,or something?
i thought to myself when i first saw this pic
this should be a game world map =D
this should be a game world map =D
Giving the map a once over only shows two "gaah, don't do that!" bits and they both have the same problem: A river passing through a mountain range[1].
They're the rivers to the north and east of the Goran Desert, you're going to need a good reason why they don't drain to the east. At the minimum, those are going to be some impressive valleys. I'd also add some major escarpments to bring the altitude up.
If I were to guess, you did rivers before mountains? This error is why the common advice is to do the rough coastline first, then mountains, contours and island chains, and then rivers.
[1] While not totally 'forbidden', allowing it generally involves an inter-range plateau and even then you are pushing it.

Impressively amazing, totally reminds me of all my mapmaking for all my fictional worlds when I was a kid. Getting some hardcore nostalgia here.
I'm kind of ashamed to say that I thought this was Minecraft from afar... ^^;
 fantasy maps! Plan to show any new stories with other furs and humans? Elves, pigs, foxes?
Yeah, this is awesome. Fantasy maps have a way of just pulling you in.
Nice work!
Nice work!
Wish I could draw maps. Would be handy since I'm a fantasy writer...
Are the humans going to be bred out by the wolves or are the wolves going to take steps to make sure that future wolf generations can have as much fun as them?
Iam curious to see a more detailed map. even though you list the names of various peoples, what would be their political or functional borders or boundries/ranges of the various races( such as humans, elves, wolves, lapines, equine, porcine, etc, how about allies, enemies, disputes with, etc. Are mercenaries or Amazons humans or other races, etc. Are there any towns like last chnace that have a double meaning, last chance - a brothel town?
And not all of the races/nations are obvious as to species. What are the Xichi, the Merseans, and the Daklians?
Any bats? :)
Any bats? :)
There's obviously a bit of conflict going on in this continent...so whose side do you take Mr Naylor? I'd take the Lupine's side myself, but that's just because I'd let them own me any day of the week...
The Dead Lakes looks interesting. They remind me of huge craters, am I on to something?
