from then on, you spend each night curled under the overhang. even making yourself a nest there from the reeds and grass. the Demon only sheltered you once and you see it briefly when it bathes in the midday sun. the lake has been quiet for some time. nothing coming to drink save for small rodent like creatures. far too small to bother with.
your mornings are spent running. your built to run and while you wont leave your home, your option to exhaust that need is to run around the lake. circling it over and over until your satisfied and hungry enough to turn to grazing.
not much grows here. but there are bushes with sweet berries, a treat to indulge while the season allows it.
on a hot day, a small herd of trikes arrives. they are not the biggest of the trikes but you know them to be bullies. their smaller stature does not make them any less dangerous and you would be wise to keep your distance. the horns they defend with could spear you through if your careless.
you take your spot near the water and watch them. you sing to them, a song you learnt as a chick to call out friendly to others of your kind. the trikes likely don't know your song but it still gains the attention of the herds bull. he snorts and tosses his head in your direction. not liking your song.
little struthi are you brave?
