In my head canon, the lands around Tarkus' lair do have several human settlements.
It's a sort of symbiotic relation they have. Dragon protects and loosely governs the lands, leaving those that settle there more or less to themselves, only really demanding certain services, like a focus on life stock production and the occasional tribute delivered to his lair.
I suppose for a dragon like Tarkus it's something on the lines of a garden.
Sometimes you have to check your garden and see if everything is still in order, leading to unannounced surprise visits.
For example it's important to regularly examine, if the planning departments of the cities and settlements in your lands are keeping up with the current standards in terms of dragon accessibility.
Wide streets and sturdy roofs should be the bare minimum.

Beautiful picture and great looking dragon there.
I have doubt however that this city is anywhere dragon proof.

The dragon as well. That's why he's checking to make sure.
Thanks, happy you like it.

Though, don't interrupt the ongoing inspection of that building's structural integrity. Dragon needs to focus.

Oh, alright. Will do so afterwards instead and also bring a pizza then. xD
(Also I second the thoughts of Maksio and Vortex, finding those ideas infeet interesting... :p)

Tarkus! Tarkus! You're too big to play with the little humans! You get down from there!
It's quite hazardous to stick too close during the dragon's ongoing inspection
And streets soft enough to increase chances of surviving getting stepped on?
Ever considered applying for a position in that cities planning department?
You might be able to do a lot of good.

I don't know, it all depends on the pay.....is becoming part of the dragon's hoard on the table for such?
Need to appoint a regulatory representative to make sure that the town dragon standards are kept up to date.
Ah! He likes to show up in person, from time to time.
After all if you want something done right, you better do it yourself.

I like this concept, and the art! Would you please tell the artist it turned out very well for an experimental piece?
This art is incredible, and stunning. Always lovely to see your boyo!
Gotta making sure the building codes are up to standards so that big dragons can roam the streets without causing unintentional damage.
Exactly!
That's why the regular inspections. Humans will always try to cut corners.

Ah! Thanks Kurrikage.
Means a lot coming from you. Appreciate it.

The spikes on that roof have got to go. They'll be painful when perching on the roof and glowering at passers-by.
Ah! Good job spotting that. It's certainly a hazard that has to go.
Oh in fact, I think the dragon probably noticed that as well and is in the in the process of fixing it.
His face spells disapproval.

Did they put a statue of you, Tarkus there, or did you do without it?)
Mhm.
Good idea. Gonna put that on the list of necessary improvements.

Glad I gave you a reason to improve the setting)
I was the one who got inspired when I saw the statue of Zilant in Kazan and the dragons in different cities.

By the way, good topic you brought up dear Tarkus. I was wondering how the streets of Wales, Ljubljana (the capital of Slovenia), whose patron city is a green dragon, and Kazan itself are organised.
Kazan probably has a place for its protector, Zilant. But he is also more compact and bipedal XD

Modern cities are very much not accomodating for dragons.
Have been to some old cities though, that are very dragon friendly. Wide streets, big plazas, sturdy buildings. Dresden in Germany comes to mind.

By the way, I didn't expect Dresden, it's one of my favourite cities) Eisenach is also there, there's actually a forest there, or a place named after a dragon :)
And the rest, yes, but Ljubljana and Cardiff love dragons, in the former there was a dragon animatronic on wheels in honour of an important holiday. In Kazan, unfortunately, there is no such thing yet, but they also love their serpent.

Amazing piece, frankly impressive to be honest! Damn shame the artist wishes to stay anonymous, they'd 100% be on my commission list. xD We have pretty similar tastes in art, always fantastic to see the big lug.
Thanks Faluma, appreciate it.
And yeah can't help it. I like to respect their wishes.

This is such a cool piece.
Looks like one person is a bit dangerously close to those paws.

He better hurry and don't get in the way of the ongoing inspection!
Thanks Shade~

Definitely looks like that settlement is up to standards with how well it's holding up! Cool piece and an impressive view for those in the streets
Love low angle PoV so much~
And thanks. I think that particular city ends up passing the inspection, only needing some minor adjustments.

I love the Photorealism!
Artworks like this are my absolut favorite and if I could I would smash that Fave-Button right through the Monitor xD
Please tell the Artist that they have amazing Skills! (and that I'm a bit jealous x3 )
