The changeling as he appears aside from the Saddle Up pack, given to me by Vulapa. Who I'll let speak for the character themselves with their concept notes.
'This is the changeling featured in my image series for the Saddle Up pack, and I really had fun designing this guy.
I was aware that in order to get the series started, I would have to create the notion that this particular changeling is not quite similar to the popular “soldier drone” type of changeling. After all, Changeling hives must need other types of drones in order to have a solid foundation for their race, so it makes sense to consider imagining other types of drones that may exist.
Initially it took a whole lot of inspiration from honeybee drones in that this particular changeling has a more specific role in the hive: to mate. Therefore, he would have to appear mild yet inviting. He would repress as much as possible the horrific aspects of his appearance in order to entice potential mates. I added a darker patch in his eyes originally to make it easier to show where he is focused on, but it also adds a sign of fitting in, easily letting everyone around know if he is eyeing their attention. His leg holes are softened like they were trimmed to the edges, and his fangs are much duller and straighter compared to the grotesque, hooked fangs of soldier drones.
I thought these were enough to make this changeling appear distinct without creating a whole new character. He still appears like a changeling, on the hunt for love. But this sort of look is good enough to leave a hint that perhaps, this changeling does not pose much of a threat. He is here for love, but he is willing to return the favor.'Chang Ling is mine.
