My birthday was a wash this year, wound up a dysphoric mess with contacts that were ripping my eyes out. This started out as a commission a day or two later to make up for the day. Shay turned it into a gift. ❤️

Oh, I'm sorry to hear that, that sucks :( But I'm sure it'll be better next year! But I must admit, the gift is quite cute. :3
It's adorable!
And yeah it was just a bad mix of things. Family game night thing where my sisters went and got drunk almost immediately (tbf we've all been dealing with stress I'm just not a big drinker), my older nieces were on baby duty watching the infant nephew, and the remaining nephews/nieces in the pre-teen range had all the focus of children their age.
Add that to too many occurences of "he" or my deadname, which became more frequent toward the end of the night and barely being able to keep my right eye open from my contact messing up... yeah.
Mom did her best to be caring and loving the next day and she was really sweet and bought me roses, which I couldnt appreciate properly with the contacts out and no glasses on hand (they've been secured now)... but the cat decided to wake us up at 2am by knocking the vase over, smashing a stained glass thing my sister got for my mom, and ruining all the flowers.
Next year, right?

Ouch... That's definitely a bad day. And it sucks that things like that can just pile up like that... It's great that you're handling it well though, I know I would be really upset if that happened to me. But yeah, you're right! Next year! It'll be better next year!
