I know...this isn"t furry either. I made this when I got this pic of a black phonebox and thought it"d make a good backdrop for my own Dalek design. He"s entirely 2-D, done in Photoshop...just for kicks.

I rather like that Dalek design - it's actually pretty menacing and less of an in-joke than the real one has become.
Thanks! I was a bit disappointed when they didn't seem to have changed the Dalek design in the new series, but I have to say--they did a great job of actually making a Dalek scary! My favorite episode of the new series was "Dalek" from the Eccleston season--it really made the Dalek cool again.
That was a good episode - I was afraid at first they were going to soap-opera it up by saying that the Daleks suddenly had feelings, but they did it very well.
The only thing I don't like about the new programmes is their terrible lack of keeping secrets - the scene where the "Metaltron" turns out to be a Dalek was set up as if it was the big surprise of the episode, even though they'd already given away what it was on the preview the last week, and called the episode "Dalek" itself!

actually, they kept with the "pepperpot" because its recognizable. It would be as if they changed the outside of the TARDIS. It jsut would NOT fly. They DID change it though, if you look at original series vs New Series. The Eye, for one. And how a Dalek "opens" is much different. I think they gave it a LOT more menancing look for what originally was a campy, stair-incapable 60s alien.
Have you seen Daleks in Manhattan (newest season)

It looks like a photo of a scale model, Impressive photoshop skills
I hope I'm not the only person that things the base looks rather similar to the aliens from the old 1950s/60s b-movie version of H.G. Wells' War of the Worlds...
Wow.....sweet shading and the design kicks much ass! Much better and more advanced than what I refer to as "Dalek Chess Pieces".
Awesome job! :)

ACutally... I admit liking the old pepperpots better. They were more...realistic? I mean its nice thats its innovative, (and i know, realistic in a SCIFI SHOW? say it isnt so) bit its the reason i like Original RObotech/Macross better than Macross 2 and up, and generally dont like Anime MEcha to begin with. And why i like BattleTech better than any of those. The original Dalek had a...utilitarian look. Very purposeful. They were war machines after all. The floaty head thing on yours just...i cant see it (where the hell is the Dalek supposed to be anyways, ya took the waist out where it sat )
I like the bottom of it though, the angle baffles would work well fused to the Daleks ^^.

My idea was that the Dalek was in the upper portion of the base, and the head thing was like an observatory for it. Most of the lower portion of the base would necissarily be taken up by all the gadgetry to make it float.
But, again, I really like the new Daleks. They kept the classic look, but made it look better and even made it work--so I was happy.

OF coursze one thing i always wondered: Daleks were supposed to be Kaleds modified for the sout, and Dalek was supposed to be Kaled in reverse....but all they did was switch the first and last letter...puzzles upon puzzles _^
WHOA! fellow Whovian! you should submit that design to the BBC and make a few bucks/quid from it.
My first introduction to Dr Who was in 1979 at a sci-fi con in Phoenix, AZ. My best friend took me to one of the video rooms to watch a series he liked--we saw Robot with Tom Baker and The Three Doctors, staring Hartnell, Pertwee and Troughton! Have you seen the Professor Chronofur comics in my Rocketship Rodents books? They were "inspired" by DW.
I've seen ONE peice of Fanart for the good Dr. till now. I was introed at the same time, but by watching the Doctor on our local PBS station...mostly Pertwee reruns during his exile on earth. i taped the final two episodes purchased by WPSX, Colin Baker's Doctor #7 (shortly after his regeneration).
if you know any doctor Who fan arts sites, could you give me the URL'S?
