Okay, so I guess I caved and redid Peeling. In the journal where I said I was going to do something like this everyone kinda said OH HEY REDO PEELING and so long story short, that's what I ended up doing. I had no idea setting out that it would end up looking SO DIFFERENT from the original, which is kind of horribly drawn, haha.
Anyway, here's the pitch:
You've stumbled across an abandoned costume store, naturally. It doesn't matter how or where you were when you found it, you go inside. All of the costumes are dusty except this one. Its skin shimmers wetly in the dim light. Naturally you kick it off its stand and try it on for size. Its form flexes, comfortably, conforming to the perimeter of your body. Walking around in the comfort of your padded claws, you find a door, ajar. You pad through into a field of wet wild grasses, which you can actually feel through the webbing of the costume's toes. A path leads down to a small, dome-shaped cave. As you feel about your oversized teeth with your forked tongue, you sense that something about your body might be amiss. You unzip the costume, only to find another zipper underneath holding together the same green belly scutes. Hmm. You remove the dragon costume only to find that you are still a dragon. Again, you unzip. Yet another dragon costume underneath. You begin to feel panicked. Again and again, no matter how many layers you peel off, there is no getting back to the you inside. You are stuck like this.
And then you roll around in the grass and murr forever. :3c
If this situation looks familiar to you, it's pretty transparently inspired by this segment from a Bugs Bunny cartoon. If you've seen it, that's cool, I've seen it too!
Anyway, back to commissions, I guess! D:

I'm glad I'm not the only one who actually thought that XD
I mean, if you're peeling off a layer, then naturally the costume inside is going to be smaller. Unless it follows typical cartoony "popping" aspects where when you remove one layer the other one just sorta expands slightly to become the same size.
Still, there's something a bit alluring about the idea of continuously peeling away, more and more until you practically shrink til nothing.
And to Swatcher, amazing work as usual! Peeling was one of my favorites as well and I'm glad to see it redone :D

Great concept and, yeah, i guess it's a bit more 'busy' and hard to 'follow' (e.g which arms go with what suit), but great that there is now a 'backstory to the mix.
Seeing this picture makes me itchy for some reason.
Like I can imagine the dude needing to get the suit off to scratch an itch, but nope, no suit removal, just itch.

If you'd have to wear it forever that'd at least be a neat suit to have
I know the solution here: zipoff, the all purpose zipper removal formula.
Wait, no, nevermind, making thingsworse better.

Your work and your style is nothing short of fantastic... *Gazes in awe*
Dr. Agonsuitlove: Or how I learned to stop worrying and love the zipper.
At least the guy is going to be rich! I mean look at all those costumes he can sell. :P
It does sound a little like "Mr. Benn's shop takes an interesting turn". You might not know that cartoon, I think it only aired in brittain.
Here's the intro. For those not familiar with it, Mr. Benn is a series of books (and later an animated television series) about a man who finds a strange costume shop with a proprietor who appears "like magic" when needed. Each time Mr. Benn tries on a costume, he exits the shop through a magic door into an adventure based on what he's become, whether it's a knight, a wizard, a spaceman... you get the idea. Each episode has a moral, but it's still quite good.
...my comment was 3 years old.

this kinda sucks, you know... it would be waaay cooler and waaay more awesome if he opens the zipper and finds actual solid belly scales beneath, instead of just another zipper holding the costume scales shut
I could not disagree more vehemently! The zipper is there as a tease, enticing him/her to remove a layer every now and then, in case this one is the last one. If he/she eventually gets to the bottom layer, it's over. Having that end be hinted at but uncertain makes this much more emotionally interesting than there being an obvious end! If you want to imagine that eventually they get to the bottom, by all means! But keep an open mind, imagine the other possibilities, and you may find out you like them more. :)
If I said where I got all of my inspiration from, my descriptions would be multi-paragraph monstrosities!
Hehe. I like your descriptions. Besides, a picture is worth a thousand words.
I love it, and I always adore drastically different interpretations of the same material
As a famous squid once said...."It's a trap!" - though definitely one I would love to fall into ^^
I enjoy how it also appears to have pores of its own, judging by the sweat.
Yesssss
This is amazing. Those dragon costumes are amazingly hot.

i remember that old skit, it's been a little while. Love how you managed to make parts of the suit that are still functioning look alive, but other parts 'feel' flat and lifeless.
Oh and i just watched the cartoon lol. Id love to commission something from you about my suit weichund :)
Oh wow, a dragon version of this! <3 I've loved this concept since I first saw it in the old Bugs cartoon where the wizard gets transformed, stuck in a perpetual horse costume.
I wonder how long one would actual keep trying before they just give up. X3

Whoops, I see you linked to said clip in the description! XD
ah, recursion! there's usually a back door to these spells though, 'cause... y'know... getting cosmetic surgery from a polypotent god-beast can cost more than just "an arm and a leg"
You had that as your avatar for a while didn't you? the Bugs Bunny clip
Comparing between the old and new there are some details I like more from each, but it is clear that you have made improvements through time. Very nice to see.
Also, hah, being able to peel off a layer whenever you get dirty would be kind of handy!

Beautiful job.. PLus is that there's a ton of additional suits :D Though they're in this other world..
Hes got a lot of layers for this weather, he might suffer from a self identity heat stroke.
you Draw AMAZING paws btw.

o__o Amazing drawing!!! Hmmmm would I mind be trapped like that? ;3
And so funny the video! xDDD

Haha that actually sounds kinda fun. Sure for others who wouldn't want to be stuck as a dragon forever it might be bad but I'd love it. And then if you ever get bored you could just keep peeling off suits for fun :D
I love your disturbing art. It always raises such interesting questions of what the "victims" will do afterwards. I hope this guy just chills for a second and realizes he can't take it off. It would suck to be a costume forever, but it has the advantage of not being as likely to be stabbed and dissected as a normal dragon would. At least he could just make up an excuse about his costume and interact a bit with society. I wonder, if he pauses and really sits there and thinks, can he feel his human limbs under there or only the costume? That's what I would try to do to see if I was really trapped. Anyway, thanks for another fascinating piece.
On the bright side you have a potential future in selling aligator suits
I always loved this theme. But what if each costume was a different species or gender? What if an outer layer was uunzipped to reveal a snake beneath. No arms or legs yet another tantalizing zipper just the same
I dig the snake thing! Don't be surprised if it makes an appearance. :)
Chuck is calling from beyond the grave, and he's asking for royalties. (Great piece!)
Sir, mind if I borrow one of these costumes? You seem to have no shortage...
This is a really intriguing concept, both compelling and creepy.
I must admit that I thought of Edmund and Voyage of the Dawn Treader by C S Lewis, too. But what needs to be done with those "extras" is to take them back to the costume shop and hang them all up.
This story by the late Michael Bard is very similar to this picture. The ending is dark, though.
Ooooh! Perhaps at the end of it all, he gets turned into a suit himself? XD
I can't help but think of this as an especially furry SCP. Because, especially given it creates MORE suits that do the same thing, it seems rather SCP-like.
I found you a new video of Knight-Mare Hare : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V2tRt3x3BUk
