It has been a very long time since I have submitted anything. I took a break from woodcarving for a long while, but a couple of years ago I got back into it to learn violin making. It has been a long learning process that needed more new skills than I could have imagined, but I am now comfortable considering calling myself a luthier.
For those that are interested, this instrument is for sale. I plan on taking this violin, a viola, and a cello to MFF to set up in the artist ally for the first time in years. I'm really excited for it.
I am also extremely interested in making custom decorated/inlaid instruments. If anyone is interested, please reach out to me.
Stats:
Strad model
Top plate - spruce
Back plate, ribs, neck, scroll - maple
Fingerboard, pegs, tailpiece, chin rest - ebony

Haven't seen your work in ages, what a pleasant surprise! Hope you're doing well :)
I took a nice long break, and then it took almost as long to learn how to build this thing! I started it 2 years ago.
