Cidari’s story is one primarily yet to be told. Her childhood started as one of many pups born to an offshore tribe of sharks known as the Sea Roses, due to their members' crimson flower birthmarks. They are located on an island cluster barely visible from the more tropical beaches located at the edge of the Mystic Forest within the RPG verse, at the edge of the continent most of the rest of the denizens call home. Her childhood was largely a good one, spent running around with her various siblings and friends playing and goofing off in and amongst the waves.
As she’d grow, her and her growing generation would be enrolled in various teaching lessons by some of the tribe's elders, going into the various important roles in the tribe and what all her and her kin had to look forward to. There were craftsmen, foragers, fishers, but what caught Cidari’s eye the most was the ‘protectors’.
She was often a rowdy and boisterous kid, always looking to get into ‘for fun’ sparring matches or egg her fellows on to try and get them to throw a punch. She found very early on that the exhilaration of combat was something she deeply enjoyed, learning it early from the short lived events where some of the older boys would bully her for being a petite little girl, only for her to fight back vehemently and revel in the feeling of taking down someone bigger and stronger than her.
You’d think this would have the effect of ostracizing her, but it actually had the opposite. She had the keen interest in specifically fighting those that she wasn’t sure if she could win against, resulting in her tending to hang out more with the weaker and less capable crowd. She tended to protect them from the older more ‘pushy’ members of their generation just like she had herself, and that combined with her extroverted and otherwise kind nature made her incredibly liked by the majority of her ilk. She tended to ‘keep the piece’ to a general degree as well, making the older generation have a fondness for her if only to the point of continually letting her off with ‘warnings’ when she’d beat up another kid, and sigh at her antics as she tried to get others to brawl her.
This naturally had her wanting to pursue the protector role as she was informed about it, actively pushing to be in the ‘lectures’ pertaining to it, and ogling the grown protectors of her tribe with interest and excitement. She wanted to fight them! She wanted to prove herself stronger one day!
And so, she’d be enrolled in the training as soon as she was old enough, constantly egging on her teachers to fight her from day one. She’d rather swiftly get put in her place, but that only caused her to burn brighter, every knock down being a reason to get right back up swinging even harder. She’d eventually get put in her place enough though to start learning the importance of discipline. While power was important, randomly swinging blows wouldn’t cut it against actual opponents. She needed to learn to pick her hits, how to properly dodge and block, and how to otherwise become a true and proper ‘Fighter’.
And she did so with a voracious appetite, every learned skill making her last that much longer against her teachers, making her beam and beg for further lessons. She was always ready and waiting for further instruction at any opportunity, almost to the point of exhausting her lecturers as they’d need to routinely tell her to ‘train on her own’ for a few days to allow themselves a bit of breathing room.
Her body would only seem to match her desire to improve as she aged, her growth spurt hitting her early and sending her past the height of her peers and most of the teachers. She very quickly grew to the height of 7’ 5”, causing her to tower over a majority of her tribesmen. Her body also ‘filled out’ rather nicely on top of it, causing her to become quite the talk of the tribe as she matured and gained both strength, ‘stature’, and a sharp toothy smile.
With her maturity came her true role as a proper protector, joining that cast of her tribe with her teachers long since giving her the go ahead to do so. With her grown size she’d easily started to overpower them, learning all their lessons and easily taking advantage of them to defeat them time after time. She was appreciative of finally getting the permission to join as she was starting to ‘get bored’ of always winning, and wanted to fight some more capable opponents!
She’d find them rather readily while within her new role, the intent of the protectors being to either follow the fisherman or the forgers out into their respective areas (be it deep into the forested land or out into the sea), and protect them from any monsters or other unknowns met out in the wilderness. She’d find herself battling many different creatures, from long slithering sea serpents to powerful mammoth boars, and many forms of creature in between. Initially, these challenges would prove difficult for her, the shark always diving in head first to try and subdue them only to have herself on the backfoot as the creatures would overpower her in various forms and fashions, resulting in the other protectors needing to come and help her.
But as she learned their patterns and tells, she’d start to overcome them, and then, easily overcome them. They started to become routine to her, this process happening over the course of a few years, across many different creatures. But as she started to ‘solve’ every single encounter, she started to become bored again. She started to crave seeing some of the lesser known creatures just so she could get a little kick again, she started to hope for new creatures to make themselves known so she could truly feel the rush of needing to learn on the fly once more.
And this boredom would come to a head as she reached later maturity, her ‘job’ having become stale and her beginning to start dreading going to it every day. She made up her mind then and there that she would go about exploring, she needed to get that ‘fight’ back in her again, she wasn’t satisfied continuing to ‘stand still’.
Her friends and family were a bit hesitant about her decision, the town elders telling her that she shouldn’t go out on this journey! The tribe itself hadn’t explored past its own reaches in generations, it hadn’t needed to. And to do so might only bring unknown dangers to their ranks!
But Cidari pushed back with that being exactly what she wanted to happen! She wanted something new, she wanted something to free her from the dull state her tribe had been living in! She wanted to keep becoming stronger! And she wasn’t asking for permission!
So, with her huffing and turning away from the tribal leaders, she made her way out to the beaches that lined the islands she’d called home her whole life. Her family and friends ran after her, telling her she didn’t need to do this. But she said she did, she wouldn’t be happy otherwise. They continued to beg her to stay until her feet met the coast, until finally her parents would ask her to wait.
They’d tell her that they didn’t understand how she felt this way, but that they didn’t want her to leave like this either. So, after a long sigh, they said they’d support her. That they hoped she’d find what she was looking for out there, and that she’d please come back to at least visit them if she did. She was always such a beacon of positivity and joy within their tribe, and they all were just scared of losing that, and her.
And finally Cidari would shift from anger and frustration to a weld up feeling of sadness. And she’d run back to her parents and squeeze them tight, telling them she loved them so much, and that she needed to do this. They wouldn’t lose her, she’d make sure of that. She’d be careful, she’d find others over there to help keep her safe, and she’d make sure to keep on getting stronger. And she would come back, with them being absolutely astonished at the amount she’ll learn and how much stronger she was going to be!
As she wept the cry of separation, her friends would also crowd around her and hug onto her, her parents having finally spoken all their true feelings, and allowing them all to let the emotions out completely. They held each other like that for a good long while, before finally they’d separate and let Cidari go.
And with a heart felt wave and as many goodbye’s as both sides could muster, Cidari would dive back into the waves of the sea, and make her way over to the barely visible land off in the distance, with the intention of learning all she could and making all that knew her proud.
Her story thusly continues from here, with further detailed coverage coming in an eventual image series. Cidari very quickly after making it on to the mainland found a weird looking plant that looked to have a dragoness trapped inside it. After getting trapped by the plant herself and having a VERY interesting awakening of sensations, she’d get freed by the guild who was sent out to find the missing dragoness. This guild of course being Shade’s guild, containing many of the lands most powerful individuals.
Cidari would be absolutely star struck by the group that had come to rescue her, especially a dragoness that seemed to have a height that towered over even her own. They all seemed so much stronger than her, and she instantly asked if she could return with them and possibly go about sparing? The group would chuckle at her, but gauge her capabilities in turn, accepting her offer so long as she promised to put on a proper set of clothes.
And with that, Cidari would join Shade’s Guild as their resident fighter. A hand to hand combat specialist, with a boisterous attitude and a constant willingness to help those around her. She’d become a known and admired figure in the guild almost immediately, with her extroverted and assertive attitude easily bouncing her around between the many different groups and individuals of the guild who would normally keep to themselves. She’d become a form of ‘glue’ that many would use to ‘stitch teams together’, and despite her rather recent inclusion, it very quickly came to feel like she had always been there.
Cidari herself couldn’t have been happier with the ‘adoption’, and spends her days either jumping on quests way to high level for her, or constantly bouncing around the tavern hall asking for various drunk individuals to brawl, or otherwise to ask questions about the world she had been sequestered away from for so long. She finds magic to still be a rather hard sticking point for her when it comes to things she can fight against, but she planned to learn its secrets and its counters nonetheless! She would continue to grow, change, and improve. And she could not be happier being in a place where it truly felt like the sky was finally the limit.
