Because everypony needs an alicorn form, I made my OC Lumi Lamplight into a princess for shits and giggles. I had an idea for a fic back then where Lumi finds a magic mirror that functions like a portal into an alternate dream-like reality where she lives out her fantasy of being the center of attention for once, moonlighting as Princess Firelight: the Alicorn of Embers. It worked kinda like a video game where it autosaves when you leave and starts right where you left off when you come back. She was going to have a whole arc where she slowly gets addicted to it and she spends more and more time there, until she starts neglecting her lighthouse duties in the real world, and Sea Smoke has to go in and convince her not to leave the real world behind where her real friends are.

Princess Firelight, being a power fantasy alter-ego, is of course totally overpowered and sits at the top of the alicorn hierarchy in alternate-Equestria. Celestia may raise and lower the sun, but Firelight is the one that keeps the sun and the stars alight. It's kind of like her job in Eventide, except everypony showers her with praise and adoration instead of forgetting that she exists. She spends most of her time attending the countless parties she's invited to, but after awhile, it starts to feel a bit lonely at the top, surrounded by NPC's that only ever say what she wants to hear.
