As the days passed and Mira continued to gorge herself on the finite supply of fish within the lagoon, she soon realized the other consequences of her insatiable appetite. The once plentiful bounty of the warm waters began to thin, the abundant schools of fish dwindling to mere fractions of their former numbers.
Sensing the impending scarcity of food, Mira attempted to exit the lagoon through the tunnel she had effortlessly traversed several months ago. The Mosasaurus, her once sleek and powerful body now swollen and round with excess fat, swam lazily towards the entrance of the narrow tunnel through the coral. Unsuspecting of the challenge that awaited her, she began to squeeze her bloated form into the underwater passage.
As she pressed forward, the tight confines of the tunnel seemed to constrict around her, the unforgiving grip of the coral scraping against her scaly skin. She could feel the pressure mounting as her rounded torso pressed against the rough edges of the coral, each movement eliciting a chorus of protests from her strained muscles.
With a desperate surge of effort, Mira pushed against the resistance, her body contorting and writhing in a desperate attempt to escape the narrow confines of the tunnel. But with each futile attempt, she only succeeded in wedging herself further into the narrow opening, the coral seeming to tighten its grip around her flabby form like a vise.
Panic surged through her massive frame as she realized the gravity of her predicament. Mira thrashed and struggled against the coral, her frantic movements quickly slowing as her meager stamina flagged with each passing moment.
The massive predator, now a bloated and helpless creature, fought against the confines of her prison with all the force her underused muscles could muster. But as the minutes stretched on, it became increasingly clear that escape was futile.
With each futile attempt to force her way forward only serving to further ensnare her in the confines of the tunnel, Mira realized that her only hope of escape lay in retracing her path backward. As a heightened sense of urgency coursing through her, she mustered what little strength remained within her blubbery frame and began to slowly reverse her movements.
The tight confines of the tunnel continued to press in around her as she painstakingly wiggled her way backward, her thickened sides scraping against the rough edges of the coral with each sluggish movement. The effort was agonizing, her weakened muscles trembling from exertion as she fought against the relentless grip of her confinement.
As Mira inched her way backward, the minutes stretched into an eternity, each second ticking by incredibly slow. Her lungs burned with the desperate need for air, the loss of stamina that had come alongside her excessive weight gain from successful hunting now proving to be an ironic obstacle in her battle for survival.
