The Ilothoa Tribe, lithe, nimble, and militaristic, now erased from the universes memories. This subspecies of Chozo originated on a world mostly covered in ocean, who’s landmasses were primarily volcanic archipelagos. Thus, Ilothoa Chozo relied heavily on personal flight, and their thin frames made for excellent swimming. The harshness of their cradle world imbued them with an odd need to expand their reach. The Ilothoa Tribe’s empire was said to be over three hundred planets strong at its peak, some by will, others by force. In their campaigns, they relied on their superior speed, awareness, and stealth to win any given battle. Tactically, they used small squads of highly skilled operators to achieve their goals.
Soon however, they met the Mawkin Tribe. The two expanding empires battled fiercely, despite their similar ancestry. Every battle was bathed in blood, with the Ilothoa taking unnerving numbers of small strategic victories, before eventually being overwhelmed by the Mawkin’s terrifying might. After endless battles, the Mawkin beat the Ilothoa back to their fortified cradle world. With nowhere left to go, the Ilothoa gave themselves to the Mawkin in a heroic last stand. The battle was interrupted by Raven Beak, the leader of the Mawkin. He accepted the Ilothoa’s surrender, under the condition that they would fully join the Mawkin. The survivors of the tribe did so, leaving their cradle world behind.
Swift Wing was the lead scout of the 2nd fleet of the Ilothoa. She had been trained from birth for her position, quickly outstripping other chosen members. Her skills were only lesser than that of the Elder Guard, the most esteemed fighting unit in her tribe. She played a pivotal role in several battles with the Mawkin, accounting for several Ilothoa victories. However, in their final stand, Swift Wing had her natural born wings shot off by a Mawkin soldier.
During the integration with the Mawkin, her prowess were noted, and she was elevated to be a squad lead of the Mawkin’s most advanced scouting forces. She was given a pair of artificial wings, and scouted several worlds while the Mawkin plotted to conquer the galaxy. Her squad was also responsible for keeping tabs on X Parasite infestations, and Metroid movements when the Thoha Tribe’s control over them faltered. Swift Wing’s squad was also used to hunt down fleeing Thoha scientists during the Mawkin’s attempted Genocide of the rival tribe. Swift Wing was sent on a scouting mission to find suitable worlds for more fortified Mawkin positions, however, her whereabouts are now unknown.
Swift Wing herself is a proud warrior. Still wearing the colors of her cradle world, she takes pride in her Ilothoa ancestry, and her place in the Mawkin Tribe, viewing the Mawkin as more capable, and willing to do what is needed. She still wears her original Ilothoa power armor, however it was heavily upgraded when she was taken into the Mawkin ranks. She’s capable with both melee weapons and ranged weapons, ranging from normal rifles to the more standard Chozo Arm canons. While familial bonds are extremely important to the Ilothoa, Swift Wing’s family was mostly estranged, leaving her distant and allowing her to imbibe in her races ancient warrior ancestry.

This absolutely beautiful piece I got from Ashpond depicting an interesting OC, who's lore came to me over the past month or so. Hopefully we'll see more of Swift Wing or her tribe in the future. Overall I love how this came out, and I can't thank Ashpond enough for working with me, and helping me flesh out this delightful birb! For those who are interested, she's based on the Magnificent Frigatebird, which are rather beautiful seabirds that often soar on thermals. Anyway, you should go favorite and comment on Ashpond's original post here!
