Adding jackalope lore to Animalia as magical creatures jackalopes have been sapient (as a species) for ages, but have largely migrated into the safer cities or hidden burrows in the wilds after the Event.
Their biology is mainly hare like, though some regions more resemble chunkier rabbits.
Their antlers and sharp teeth grinding teeth come in later in life after they start eating minerals, which their parents grind up for them prior to this development. The mineral sources they eat determine what their antlers/teeth will look like, as well as how brittle or strong they are. It isn't uncommon to have mismatched antlers and teeth, as antlers are shed.

Anyway here's my jackalope, Pyrite Jackalope names aren't always as simple as their primary mineral, but they're often related to them.
