Ancient and vast, surrounded by legends Mistmirror Forest attracted visitors from different places outside city of Silverport. But not all of them listen to the warnings of townsfolk about correct behavior in these woods. When a group of tourist played a prank on a wild fox and scared it with a petard they didn't think of possible consequences. Aside from the fact that it was cruelty towards animal, they also didn't pay attention to what they were told before - never do any harm to foxes of Mistmirror Forest...
KARENA: (hides behind bushed and shifts into semi-human form) Pff, think it was funny?! Soon you will learn how true fun looks like!
HELET: People of Silverport didn't warn them?
KARENA: Oh, these are "smart ones". They think that we are just a fairy tale created to attract tourist. Now they will learn what happens to silly humans who don't respect Kitsune.
HELET: What do you have in mind?
KARENA: I think about entire performance involving scary trials and riddles. We'll make them sweat!
HELET: (smriks) They brought this upon themselves.
KARENA: Yeah! Mmm, I see mist is already rising. Call other sisters, upcoming days are going to be exciting!
HELET: You are going to keep them in the forest for a several days? Not bad!
KARENA: We haven't played some grand prank for quite a time. This is an excellent chance for us and a good lesson for them. (grins) Prepare, humans, you may soon understand why some people call us "fox demons".
Yes, if you don't behave in Mistmirror Forest and mistreat local foxes it can lead to quite a nasty outcome!

Got to be careful with a petard. You’re likely to get hoisted by it.
The girls get to have fun though, so that’s the main thing.
I myself would be more one of those people, who, if I saw a fox in the wild that didn’t run away (or any other animal for that matter), would probably observe and talk to it.

These people didn't think at all about dangers of using petard. But now fox-eared girls will have a lot of fun indeed! Tourist will learn their lesson.
