This little number here is the Fast- Air-born -Lift- System, or FALS. This is how to get macrofighters off the ground with much speed without needing to taxi the runway for takeoff.
It has been given a nickname by the air-force of Roadrunner because of fantastic speed and G-force the units experience on takeoff, and some nickname them coyote after the fictional character of Wil E Coyote.
The FALS having to use a special launch system in the same vain of the V-1 doodlebug and Nike missiles. Speaking of the Nike missles, some of the cheaper versions of the FALS uses twin Nike missiles to launch the frame into the sky.

The newer models of the FALS use liquid rocket engines and have a more lifting body shape to glide back to earth safely, earlier generations of the FALS used parachutes to land but it was somewhat inefficient.
