The battle didn't look good from the start, but it only got worse. The targets were ready for the assault. every gun was manned, every sensor was on. Someone had to have sold them out. As the bullets whizzed by his head, Tempest became sure that the best course of action was to retire the field and regroup another day. He popped off a few shots to cover his comrades retreat, and as quickly as he arrived, he disappeared into snowy darkness again. He'd worry about the traitor once he was back at base. Where there was tea and it wasn't so goddamned cold.
Way too cold.
'Cuz this guy makes sure me 'n Cooper gets to Anthrocon every year, without fail. Thanks again, Mark. You da man!

Awesome piece, digging the snow effects
Is that muzzle flash or a flashlight on the gun?
Is that muzzle flash or a flashlight on the gun?
Something occurs to me; if he were nuzzlin' someone and his nose lit up, it would be "Nuzzleflash". :D
Wow it looks totally amazing. I love the whole details and coloring you did. You are an absolute great artist.
How do you draw this good? because its beyond practice. All the details, the lighting, and the blowing snow/smoke effects make it so atmospheric.
In my case it's also knowing how to utilize your resources and knowing about more subtle things like the flow of the image
Well you use your resources and knowledge to make a picture that flows perfectly.
It still does come down to practice in the end though, a lot of people have one or the other, the knowledge, or the physical skills, it's using them together that is the crucial part, study concept painting and you will learn a lot about setting up pictures :3 *dragged away for being a crap artist speaking with the confidence of a great one*
the armor is simply astonishing, I love the seam lines and the mix of both hard and soft materials that create a seamless design. I want one X3
This is really well done, I love the composition and the snow effects. My only criticism is that his facial expression seems rather out of place with what he's doing. Still, very nice!
I honestly love your work, Stype. You'd make some great viral marketing for some of my stories, heh. If only I could actually afford....*sigh*
Uhm, and before it gets taken out of context, I'm not trying to do any kind of *hint-hint-please-beg* thing. That was legitimate.
Reminds me of the SC2 marine.... wait a sec, good idea, you should put yourself in one of those!
First off, the art's cool.
Also, is this from your story about Tempest; or kind of video game stuff?

Story based, though the extract above is by Strype based on the concept idea I gave him...
Looks like I probably won't be making it to AC this year, but say hi to that jetsetter for me while you're there.
awesomes! ^^
i always love you armour and weapon designs great job ^^

Such intense attention to detail that I don't think I'll ever be able to get it all. You continue to amaze me with each new piece of art you grace this website with. The facial expression, the armor, the tattered cloak thing, the snow effects, and there's so much more. Fantastic.
Just when I think I'm doing pretty good on the armor picture I've been working on, you go and submit THIS.
I want to punch a baby in the face. Hard. Really. REALLY. Hard...

Ahhhh I hate the words "without fail", but the images are fantastic as always <3
Holy mother of God this is awsome.
I want a pic but I dont think I could afford it. You arnt doing an Iron Artist anytime soon are you?

Absolutely amazing. I get a 40k feel from it too. Gotta love power armor and automatic pistols with swords :)
Even after watching you for so long and meeting you and seeing you in action, way to long ago I might add, your work still amazes me. =D
I think the people above have said pretty much everything I could, save for one thing: When I first saw the thumbnail for this on my 'new submissions' page, before my eyes properly focused on it... I thought it was a photograph! You are amazing, sir!
Sweet frag, I love your armour designs...really high-tech looking, and yet still believable.
I really need more practice...
I really need more practice...
I hadn't thought of that before... a sorta Kilt or Waist Cape is a good idea for hiding your tail in combat... less likly for it to get sniped if there's more cloth flowing around it!
I've said it once, I'll most likely say it again, I love this style of yours, if EVER you start doing trades let me know. please.
I love the light trails and the detail on the armor. The snow is fun and the story enjoyable.
Only thing - um - at night the sword kinda gives him away doesn't it? :D
Beautiful work!

Damn, that's awesome. I love the way you draw armor and guns~
As always; very nice...
And glowy bits O.o; maybe the glowy bits were the issue. *hrms*

Love the glow on the sword and smoke, looks real awesome!
im assuming that you warped it to fit the swords length?

As I scrolled down past your comment, I had Follow by Incubus playing. Your avatar is strumming a guitar quite quickly, matching the song quite well, so it made me laugh.
Looking forward to seeing at AC again this year, hopefully we can do business again =3
Another excellent kick ass job. The lighting from the sword looks fantastic and his armor looks just as good. It has a look of being sturdy, yet lightweight.
really good piece =) wish the expression was different, more aggressive. Kinda makes it lose the piece's power
Amazing detail, I love the lighting you chose. The snow looks crazy realistic :3 great work as always!
The extended magazine on that machine pistol is ridiculous. XD Also the armor detail is very nice, the snow is superb, and I have to wonder why he's trying to pull off stealthy with a giant glowing sword.
Imperial troops have entered the base, Imperial troops have entered...(static)
*simply smiles in admiration because what needs to be said already has been* }:=)
Damn Strype, every time I think "Wow, this is some of his best work yet, he'll be hard pressed to top that." You just put out another piece that always proves me wrong. Your work is amazing.
Damn I love all the little snow details! They are too good
purely beautiful art work, I really like what looks like steam coming off the blade
i like this Very much. but i just want to take his Eyebrow and make him more concerned at what he is shooting at ya know lol unless if he is emotionless overal great art love it love it love it!
i also like this armor .. it make more sense to me unlike ultra space marine stuff like in war hammer 40k I look at the space marin and im like he must have dislocated his should to reach out that far. this looks more real ^.^
The way you did the armor is pretty outstanding.
Very well done and shaped.. makes me think of Gears of War and Unreal... ^_^

Excellent as always, if I could stop buying Ork miniatures for Warhammer 40k long enough to have money I'd definitely pay for a commission. Pricey but I'd know it'd get done right.
Looks amazing, really wonderful shading and effects.
My only complaint is lack of emotion. They are firing the gun, but nothing else. Just seems like they are firing for sport if anything. No anger/rage/commanding presence. Just there. Despite backstory as provided.

I like how you created the snow effect. Looks quite gorgeous actually. Very windy.
Rubber tubing, gas, saw, gloves, cuffs, razor wire, hatchet, Gladys, and my mitts.
I've been admiring your work for a while, and there's really nothing I can say besides: You put such amazing detail in your art. Not just backgrounds and fur patterns, but the armor. I am in awe of your incredible armor detail in your art that features it. If I had money, I'd commission you without a second thought. Your snow effect is amazing, your armor detail is incredible, the steam coming off the sword is a great touch, the glow on the sword is cool, the light shining on the armor is very nice, the gun detail is good, your clothes folds make sense, the ripped edge is awesome, and I think I've reached the end of my positive adjective vocabulary and am unable to thoroughly express how I feel about the addition of the necklace, the fur detail, his expression, and his pose. The ONLY thing I can find that might need a bit of work is the snow.
I have only one question. How long did this particular piece take from beginning to end?

if you want a better gun for him then robocops gun and some of the armor parts from mass effect 1 and 2!
and if you don't like autos may i sugust the smith and weston 50 cal magum revolver and not just one but two
I first produced my pistol,
then produced my rapier;
I said "Stand and deliver,
or the Devil, he may take yer!"
Whisky in the Jar
as covered by Metallica
I'm not sure if I should be concerned or not that the above lyric was my first thought at seeing the artwork.
That being said, it's a beautifully detailed piece.

You were kinda sloppy with the smoke in this one, but it still rocks hard nonetheless! Cool job!
First thing I thought of were Warhammer 40k Space Marines. There the only guys I know that would have swords and guns out at the same damn time.
Wicked armor, love the details and the design. All the seams must have been murder. X3
This is... this is...! THIS IS...!!! *Faints*
This is incredibly awesome. I love every bit of it. =D
