Halloween cookies! (Includes recipe) - by IanaLunette
Happy Halloween!
After many less than spectacular halloweens I"ve finally begun to grasp a bit of the art and craft of fondant cookies! I already wanted to share some homemade cookies with some friends, so I decided to snuck inside them one of each of them ;D
All of them are based on drawings/stickers of their fursona/OC
From left top to right bottom they are:
Draxxy: Tik-Tok
Debbie: dvmnd
LittleKissy: kirosangataki
Gib: bgible
Octomono: 0ct0m0n0
Sammy by Nia: smollnia
Enyard: Enyard
Me: IanaLunette
Oh yes! The recipe is:
170g flour
50g sugar
125g unsalted butter
LOTS of fondant
Mix all ingredients but fondant into a paste that you spread evenly on the table, anything like 1 to half cm high, and then cut shapes into it. If they"re too sticky, leave them in the fridge fr an hour or so. For these cookies I used a glass to cut them, so use whichever shape you like :3
Place them in the oven at 175ºC for 10-15 minutes, until the get a golden shade and let them cool. They may increase in size a bit, but they shouldn"t get too big, unless the flour contains yeast.
Then you start with the fondant. It"s like play-doo, just have fun and accept you"ll never get it perfect, but it must always be fun. I strongly advice not using food colourant unless it is top quality, and always remember that the more you use, the stickier it"ll get (You can reduce its stickiness mixing it w glasse sugar, but of course you"ll whiten it in the process). It"s much better to buy it pre-coloured from the shop and then mix colours to obtain others. Fondant can be prepared and shaped weeks in advance of its use. Just store it properly airtight, with a film, and it"ll last almost forever, and to give it back shape and consistency you gotta massage it and heat it with your hands, until it regains its usual texture. If for some reason it is too dry, you can always add one or two drops of vegetable oil, but don"t abuse it.
Have fun!
