Day of the dead altar in memorial of the apples
Hello everycreature again. Surprised for having a second drawing after a really short time? I know, it is completely unexpected. I got this idea in mind suddenly one day two weeks ago. In case you don"t know, Mexicans usually celebrate the day of the dead during November 1st and 2nd. It is a celebration of the life of their death beloved family members and friends, a way to remember them with different traditions including an altar like this one I drew. Just to clarify, I"m not Mexican and I don"t have close Mexican family or something similar, but I like so much the spirit of the celebration and its aesthetic. I also got a lot of help from a Mexican friend of mine who helped me to do the drawing with the right elements without making big mistakes. Oh, and another short clarification, the drawings of the pictures are screencaps of the show.
Bright Mac and Pear Butter were without a doubt, really nice characters, even if we couldn"t see anything of them in the present of the show. I think it is clear because of their story how important they were for the apple family. This artwork is then a small tribute to them. We"ll always remind you.
This is also a good moment to remind my grandmother who passed away this June. I"ll always remember you too.

Np! I almost shed some tears seeing that because it was so wholesome.
Understandable. I'm sorry if it was too emotional. *hugs strong*
The only thing that might be missing is bits and cider, but other than that is a prefect altar to them for Dia de los Muertos. It start on sun down on November first All Saints day and goes through the second. I celebrate it with my Hispanic neighbors and used to with my roommates family when I lived in San Antonio. I brought it home to my family as well.
That sounds great. Thanks for sharing it and thanks for liking my artwork too of course.
You know what's weird? We never knew what really happened to Bright Mac and Pear Butter.
Did they pass away?
Did they get into some sort of accident?
Did something (or somepony) killed them?
What do YOU think happened to them?

You right, there is a big mystery of what happened with them. I think it intentional for keeping what happened at our own imagination, and also to focus more in the characters themselves than their final fates.
I'm pretty sure they're dead for the present time of the show. In the episode Crusaders of the Lost Mark, Applejack tell really emotional to Apple Bloom that mom and dad would be so proud of her, and the three brothers cry uncontrollably, so, for me, there is no doubt that they aren't alive anymore.
About how they died, I think it is really complex and we literally have no clue of what happened. What we surely know is that they had to die really young, considering how Apple Bloom is still pretty young in the present time of the show, and also, that Granny Smith is still alive too. For me, the most logical explanation would be that some kind of really strong illness hit them and there wasn't anything somepony could do, or they simply passed away for some kind of accident transporting products to another city.

I theorized back in the mid-'10s that a harpy killed them when they tried to stop her raiding their orchard.
I like all the special things you put into making this work of art. It would be very interesting to have seen an episode where not only did MLP: FiM further honor cultures of every creature through its own interpretation of 'The Day of the Dead', but also used the episode to improve on the message of coping with loss / the passing of a loved one that kind of missed the mark, [Tanks for the Memories]. (Rainbow Dash was very sad about Tank needing to hibernate, but The Apple Family, in my opinion, would have been far better characters to explore how one, or more, members of a family cope with the loss of a loved one.).
I agree with you Yosh, an episode featuring that part of facing and dealing with the loss of our beloved ones would be great.
