A sinister fog clings to the ground, marring the earth in an obscuring mist. The faint glimmer of starlight above is captured by the clouds overhead, their twinkling light no more than a pale imitation, lost in the fog. An unnatural chill hangs in the air, the wicked fog sapping the very warmth from it, threatening to bring an early frost. The sounds of skulking creatures moving through the fallen leaves, dark wings flapping, hidden by the dense, roiling fog, twigs snapping as shadows move through the trees break the silence of the night. The faint smell of acrid smoke and wax are carried by a gentle breeze, the scent pungent in the otherwise cool, crisp air. The wind begins to carry the clouds away, the full moon piercing the veil, slowly burning away the fog below. Pumpkins lay scattered about the forest clearing, plucked from their vines and placed for some unknown purpose. Candles line the perimeter of the clearing, dripping wax and burning low in the waning hours of the night, arranged for some curious ritual. A pair of glowing eyes peers out from the darkness, their pale gaze constant amidst the flickering candle light.
