The idol business can be a family business if you let it be. Passing the torch isn't reserved for the younger understudies taking over from the Christmas cakes who age out of the unforgiving biz. If you do it right and long enough, you can pass it all down to offspring. And thus was born OTM Girls NEO! The daughters of the three desperate dreamers and three loyal losers make after their fathers in the main, but cuteness is apparently genetic. Kawaii as the moms, unique as the dads.
Starting on the left, appropriately, Nishi, the daughter of Hidarin and Bakkun. The little guinea tapir lucked out and genuinely came out looking like a vague capybara. And her half-lidded look recalls her mother's space cadet cleverness, added to with her pop gothy look. She looks spooky, like a baku should, even if she's only half youkai, or so she claims on the band website.
All the way on the right, the child of Migi and Zukkun, and Nishi's cousin, Azuma! (Migi and Hidarin are twins, so it's doubly a family business.) Bright as a penny and cute as a button, using every single ounce of the combination of a fluffy great horned owl and an adorable potato guinea pig, the sweet meganekko very much follows her mother's sweetness. And dad's unashamed nerdery. She's even wearing her dad's wizard cape! And yes, like her cousin she claims strange powers, less a maho shojo more a broom-riding majo.
Finally, in the center, Minami, the daughter of Manaka and Tanaka. They had one major argument in their life, Kita or Minami. Eventually, the choice was made. Long of limb, lank, with snaggled buck teeth, and fluff close to the skin. She's so like her father. Enough like Manaka to lead the group, but she takes a more calm path. And as an intentional contrast to the fantastical cousins, her personal bio is intentionally boring and makes her out to be an accountant who sings on the side. Which would make her somewhat like "auntie" Retsuko. Something she's quite proud of.
It was bound to happen! The ones seen being born are all grown up and taking their places on the stage. A batch of adorable hybrids with names as on-point as their mothers. West, East, and South. They're missing a cardinal direction but it's fine. The next generation is here to JPOP all over the place.
The characters are mine, but the background is from Sanrio
