By a friend who I believe still wants to remain unnamed.
Here it is! Finally an actual authoritative species sheet for my aliens.
The TL;DR for these guys is that they're a culture of spacers from a destroyed planet. They used to be really, really advanced for the setting, but had a cultural fear of space travel so when someone showed up with planet killers.. they kinda just got shelled from orbit.
Biologically, they operate kind of like crocodilians, where they just continue growing up and up for their entire lives as long as they eat enough- until eventually they start starving or square cube law starts killing their insides. Their lifespans regularly get into the 300's, and by that point they're like eight feet tall.
Males horns grow down and forward, females grow up and forward, but their horns are made of a keratin-adjacent material and grow very fast, so people will shave them into shapes or attach lattices around them to force them to grow in certain shapes.
From left to right, they represent:
An young adult male, more or less the species average.
A middle aged female of above-average height, she's got very aggressively styled horns- mostly by shaving rather than lattices. She's also got fairly abnormally bright coloration for someone post-glassing. Not hyper rare, but about as bright as you see.
A a young adult female of below-average height.
A very, very old male of average height for his age bracket. He's got very ornately styled horns, mostly from lattices rather than cutting. He's got bright coloration, but that's because he's old enough to be from before the glassing, where people just.. were brighter colored in general.
