It had struck Suave at the time as some form of cosmic joke. One rather at his expense...
Having had his arm twisted into entering the tournament by one of these 'Academics', the unfortunate raccoon had been immediately placed up against one Corda Iacobi. Corda was a powerful being, a dreamborn human-esque creature, with abilities beyond the spectrum of his element of water, that spread into control over dreams, spirits, and even reality itself.
Suave... Suave had a deck of cards that sometimes set him on fire.
The one thing he could be thankful for was that he wouldn't have to take this powerful presence dead on - instead, the Academics had assigned them to fight by proxy, using elemental constructs! The one thing he had to be less thankful for... was his inability to create an elemental construct. Suave would have to get creative... Thankfully, that was one strength he did have.
It was probably a surprise to Corda when his foe presented what appeared to be a pile of junk, all strapped together in a vaguely humanoid form. Compared to the statuesque ice scorpion that he presented it was... underwhelming. And it didn't exactly scream of Suave's element of 'fire'.
At least... not until Suave set the billowing towel he'd fashioned as a cape alight - and used a burst of concentrated smoke to propel the mechanism forward!
Suave knew it would only take a matter of seconds for Corda's aggressive ice beast to rip his own construct apart - that was of course, if it didn't completed fall to pieces by itself once that fire burnt through it's bonds. He just had to hope that, as it collapsed forwards, perhaps it would melt through Corda's creation before it was declared a loss for Suave.
---
And here be my own entry for the first round! It struck me that creating a golem with his powers was... something quite outside Suave's capabilities. As such, I wanted to consider how he might approach the prompt when he's not really capable of doing so in a traditional sense.
I think this is a worthwhile solution!
