Police pup Training (epilogue)
????? Time later …
“Sit, boy!”
Three sat proudly before his master, his gleefully wagging tail betraying his otherwise calm and composed stance. Beside him lay the criminal he had been dutifully chasing, struggling and thrashing beneath the thick, viscous rubber criminal containment cocoon (ccc for short). Fired as a blubbery glob of heavy, slimy black rubber from his pup pack, once it hit the fleeing fugitive it, rather literally, sealed his fate, rapidly expanding and encasing his body in an impervious, inescapable latex shell that, as a bonus, came pre-marked and prepared for processing!
Three didn’t quite remember what the criminal’s crime had been in the first place, but that was okay. His job was to act, not to think. To obey orders, not question them. There was no doubt in his mind that his masters knew best. They did all the hard thinking and planning and preparing, the drudgingly boring job of deciding who to catch, what to catch them for, and when.
But not him - data, instructions, and commands were instantly beamed into his head, all sorted out and ready to implement. Clear-cut, simple, free of clutter, distractions, and choices.
Of course, some deviation from the instructions had to be allowed. After all, in the field situations can drastically change within the span of a single second, far too quickly for puny human minds to process, let alone adapt to.
Not for Three, however.
Powerful instincts could kick in where conscious thought failed. As long as he followed his base directives of catching the identified criminal, his computer-aided mind could react and respond to any changes in a mission almost instantly. His keen nose could seek out even the tiniest stale traces of an illicit scent, and track it effortlessly for miles. His equally sensitive ears could detect and isolate the faintest of sounds, and his powerful four legs can easily run down even the fastest fleshy human.
His body, fueled by latex and super-secret police tech, made him almost completely immune to the pitiful weaknesses of the human body: fatigue, exhaustion, hunger and thirst, heat and cold. All he needed was a short recharging period once a month, and he was ready to go! He could be alive, kicking, and actively pursuing his target days after said target had already succumbed to the elements.
To put it simply, he was a very good police pup.
With all his obvious strengths over the weak, frail and miserable human fleshy bodies, it was little wonder that he’d racked up an extremely impressive record. While he’d lost count of the exact number of criminals he’d apprehended or how long he’d been proudly serving on the force, he knew it was a lot. His masters told him so often, praising his efficiency and obedience. He was such a good boy!
In fact, his results were so impressive that they were rapidly expanding the police pup program. He’d begun seeing other units that looked just like him walking around at the station, sleeping in nearby kennels, and even having some fun together during assigned playtime. The newer recruits weren’t just limited to the police department either: the fire department, coast guard, and nearly every other branch of rescue-related service had begun recruiting their own rubber puppy divisions.
In fact, he’d even heard rumors that due to his perfect record and experience, he may soon be getting a rubber police K-9 team of his very own, a pack of rubbery pups under his command.
While Three felt nervous about the idea of handling any sort of responsibility, or duty that involved making conscious decisions for others let alone actual leadership, he did feel a surge of pride at the thought that his masters were so proud of him and his abilities that they were willing to trust him with this new authority. It spoke of how much they loved him - how much of a good boy he was.
Three’s vested chest puffed up with even more pride as his attention was shifted towards his latest catch, his struggling moaning form being shuffled away and unceremoniously chucked into a marked police transport. Who knows, maybe one day he’ll be the newest recruit in Three’s police pup unit, and it’ll be his duty to mentor and train him into becoming an obedient, loyal and proud enforcer of law and order. Maybe that criminal will one day become a loyal police pup himself, valiantly upholding the law rather than violating it like the disgusting criminal scum he was.
And besides, it was his duty to obey his masters. If his masters felt that he was best fit for a leadership role, then that was what he was best fit for. He trusted his masters as deeply as they trusted him. If they command, he will obey without a second’s hesitation.
After all, he is Three. A simple rubber police pup doing his duty. Nothing more, nothing less.
He lives to serve.
