Art wise: I cranked the contrast way up on my scanner to make the lines really dark...the only issue now is they"re kind of pixely...I wonder if there"s a way to smooth them a little...any ideas?

Even if it's to improve skill, it's still copying and something you should do for yourself and not to post. I have nothing against it, as I used to trace and copy when I was little and it can help, but it's not something you should post around.

Nop, it's not the same style at all. I may be similar since Kammy is still learning. Others, especially people she looks up to, will inspire her. I do the same, my style will resemble someone else, but its not a direct copy.

i usually scan in greyscale, and then reline with the curve tool. o.o
I don't really have the tools or patience to "ink" that many times ... ^_^;

You know you're in trouble when the exclamation at you goes outside of the bubble.
Another good indication is taking the differential of your font size to you mom's and divide by the square root of your adorableness index...
when I scan like that, I think it's best to scan the picture as as large a dpi as you can, at least over 300. Then you can scan it in pure B/W. After that, I shrink the picture to the size I want, and the lines become not-pixely anymore! (if using photoshop or whatever, make sure the image is set to color mode and not b/w mode or it'll still be pixely)

Pretty much what Nicolai said. Scanning at a larger resolution will help reduce pixelization

As to this scan, it was grayscale, 300 dpi (which is essentially black and white), with the contrast maxed, and then shrunk to 35% in GIMP in color mode...you think it'll be better if I go to like 600 dpi?

yeah, i think itll help at higher resolution, the more its shrunk, the less pixelly the shrunk lines will look
