Loui's job isn't always easy. Especially when living in an MMORPG style world. This usually means that the item/mcguffin collecting is stupidly long and the rewards are often not worth it. Good thing he has the ability to analyze items to see how many are needed to complete a set. May as well find out early how much of your life you'll be wasting ahead of time.

Most likely a Whammy. In most games its usually "faster progress for this stupid thing you already did" or a minor useful shortcut.
