This is Benny's friend, Hasim!

Hasim is a Barracuda, and he's my first official aquatic OC! He's an exchange student in the same school Agatha and Zachary attend, and he's taking part in a new program meant to accommodate aquatic students. His clothes are minimal since he has no mammary glands to speak of, but he does wear a special device on his neck. It is a filter which basically turns air into water while channeling it into tanks over his gills so he can breathe. He can be without it in the event of an emergency, but he really shouldn't go without it for more than an hour.

Hasim has gone on a long journey from his original home, the Red Sea. He's found his life boring, especially when it comes to the disturbances caused by trade ships taking the Suez Canal, until one day he decided to leave. Somewhere along the line, he stumbled upon an abandoned bottle named Benny, who was discarded due to the belief he was some kind of cursed item. He's been traveling the world with him ever since. The two of them are not sure if they're going to stay on the island or continue moving around, meeting new people, but they're going to make the most of their time!

Hasim is a very competitive type, wanting to turn things into competitions. As such, he has been respectfully banned from competitive swimming in the school he attends (he can still use the pool but dear lord he will make you regret challenging him to a race). With his sleek form and athletic build, he's been able to adapt to running very well, and as such he's been a very active member in the track & field team. While he has a tendency to throw competitive snark, he still finds ways to make friends, typically because he's very visibly unique. He is most humbled in his language classes, as he is only fluent in Arabic and still learning English. He speaks well, for the most part, but he will sometimes use words in the wrong context, even though it is grammatically correct to do so. For example: "Ah crap it looks like it's gonna precipitate soon!" using needlessly big, professional words in everyday speech by mistake or the opposite: "As you can see from the surrounding evidence presented thoroughly by the botanist's thesis, good stuff makes trees grow better". He has a handy dictionary if he doesn't know words, but he tries his best not to depend on it! He can at least play into the exchange student role quite charismatically, sometimes playing into his own mistakes and quirks in order to make people like him.
