The Queen and her every loyal knight had set out earlier in the day on a small boat from the beach resort, wanting to explore the small island off of the coast. As they rowed, they chatted, not noticing the rising dark storm clouds swiftly rolling their way. The sea went from serene and calm, to a roiling mass of waves, threatening to capsize the small vessel, rain pounding down upon them. Through sheer luck, the storm pushed them towards the island, stranding them until the storm passed by.
As the two hauled themselves out of the water, Jet steadying the Queen on the sand, lightning flashed, the world painted white for just seconds before thunder rolled over them. The proud knight bolted, the roaring drum of thunder matched by the racing pace of his heart. He bolted, dread racing after him, clawing up his ankles with every step. Her Majesty gave chase, calling his name and eventually finding him clinging to a tree. She had spotted a cave near the water's edge, and guided him there, holding tight to steady him this time.
Once in the small cave, out of the torrent of rain, the noble knight curled up like a small child, his whole body jolting when another crack of thunder split the sky. The Queen managed to find some dry driftwood in the back of the cave and lit a fire, to dry them off, keep them warm, and, hopefully, give Jet something else to focus on. He was afraid of thunder, the knight admitted, very reluctant. With a soft smile, the Queen sat herself by him and pulled his head into her lap. Gently stroking him, she could feel him trembling against her, anxiety taking root, just waiting, waiting for that next booming roar from the mighty white dragon in the sky.
Queen Vanallia took a breath, closed her eyes, and began to sing. It was a song from her childhood, one her mother sang to her many years ago. It comforted her on stormy nights such as this and she could only hope it would bring her knight some peace, much as it did for her when she was small. Her voice filled the cave, low and sweet, her fingers wearing a pattern into Jet's hair. The knight slowly unfurled in her lap, not pulled quite so closed, the warmth of the fire and the soft voice taking the teeth from his fears. Encouraging, the Queen thought, and so... She sang.
This is a little anniversary gift for my dearly beloved Matrixg featuring a little scene from the rp we are doing. If you happened to read the little story I posted on twitter, this takes place earlier the same day.
For Soul, I love you, more than you could ever imagine. You have made me so, so incredibly happy over these three years and I pray that this is only the very start of our relationship with one another, I will do anything in my power to continue to be your Vanny <3
