I figure it's likely the equivalent of a wordless grunt. "Who the *Ugh!* designed this?" When you can't pick the right epithet because so many are in your thoughts at once.
When you realize that the curse that is most appropriate for the situation is the equivalent of "Power Word: Death."
Nice note to end the chapter on.
I had a feeling there was more to her since we first met her, but while I did wonder if she would turn out to be a twist villain or something, I did not expect a potential high-tech superhero/villain lair!

so, if i'm right about this, that's a mana battery. when the trigger is pulled it completes a circuit that activates the battery sending Mana directly into what looks like a fire stone/crystal since mana can only flow in one direction in this contraption and i checked in the previous pages it looks to have a lens when the dude fired it.
so, raw fire mana is passed through a lens focusing it into the fireball/flamethrower we saw before. as to the circuit a simple loop will do, probably 20% of the released amount stays in the circuit while 80% is diverted and converted in the crystal.

Owl approves of this camouflaged roost. Any good owl exercises camouflage when grounded or perched and not running down prey. Low profile and striking unseen and unheard. Ver' good. ^v^
