Having taken custom hoodie and kigu commissions for over a decade now (I'm closed at the time of posting this), I can assure you there is normally a spot/stripe 'tax'. No one has anything AGAINST spotty or stripey critters, it's just that every marking takes time to sew, and critters with a lot of spots and/or stripes fall into that category.

One of my favorite things about dye-sublimation projects is how much easier details like spots and stripes are. They still take time to draw, but they don't need to be cut, pinned, basted and appliqued, and that means my clients don't have to pay the stripe/spot tax :)
