I think the part that annoys me the most is how annoying it looks
you dont have to draw smething perfect when your expressing yourself :/
Aww -hugs tight- Hope you are doing okay at the moment..
We miss you!
We miss you!
hell if I know, I didn't even draw it proper, it likes to hide when I'm not looking, and when I manage to catch a glimpse of it I feel as if I need to vomit up my blood
oh! I was basically trying to represent visually what my sickness feels like to myself.. it honestly seems to be lurking past the page or beyond. This is one of my first attempts at something so abstract too
visually this can be seen in many different ways. you a accomplished one image a million words!
i prey you get over your sickness soon. and that, that nasty buggie go away! >:E its like the akrid are out to get you. i have LP2 stuck in mine now.

I miss you guys too, but all my main energy must go into self-care now. FA will get the extra when I have it <:3!

jesus christ if I was infected with animes I would have cured myself out of spite
That's no anime... that's a CG film...
(Anime is too broad a term to dismiss like that, I would argue, unless the concept of animated serious works is the issue. Since it's a large part of the cultural output of Japan and runs from Ghost in the Shell - very much like an animated Blade Runner series - to shonen anime - high fantasy series - through to Piano, which is a slice of life series with absolutely nothing supernatural in there at all.)
I don't think it's possible to put a definition on the term "anime", in fact. The style is very much based off western animation like Disney, historically, and the spread of genres and topics makes dismissing anime like dismissing, say, CG animation in it's entirety. It's just because the term refers to anything animated in Japan that the idea has come about of it being a coherent genre. By the standard definition, nothing related to Final Fantasy VII counts as anime at all - video game, novel, CGI film... no animated cartoon.
And if the problem is with Japan, well that's a terribly shortsighted attitude to take.
(topic switch)
Though in the video game/movie, Sephiroth IS basically an infection - just one that mainly carries emo, insanity and the tendency to use an enormous sword.

Everyone I can think of who was infected as a plot point in the series either used the famous "Buster sword" - about 4-5 foot long and over a foot wide - or was Sephiroth himself, who used a sword that was like 6-7 feet long whoas.
If the beef log is some kind of reference, sorry to say I don't get it.

Much as i loved your arguement.. there was a final fantasy animated movie. In fact at least 2 of them. But your Arguement is stil valid.
Also its nice to see someone eloquently discribe my feeling of how people block out all of a massive amount of animation including many genres and styles.

Not in the Final Fantasy VII continuity (the most expanded upon, and the one I was talking about) - Advent Children counts more as CG, as it's a rendered film.
And it's nice to hear myself described as eloquent.

He's a good example of a villain who's chilling, because he's a cloned person turned into a sort of supernatural infection. He's certainly not a nice person. And the fact that he can mind control the player character, corrupts dozens of people into echoes of himself and plans on killing the planet to use as the infection vector for the next cycle... there are a lot of disease overtones there.
His bishonen state, on the other hand, while presumably intended to add to the disturbing nature of this perfect-in-form being as a living cancer, sort of backfired spectacularly. It's probably partly a cultural difference between the west and Japan (aloofness calling back to their more recent feudal period?) and partly scary scary yaoi fangirls in the early years of the internet.
Overall, the presentation in the game and wider series is of a serious, credible villain who is utterly psychotic, talking about killing the planet in the same tone of voice as he asks his foe how the training's been going. Sure, the plot makes little sense unless you've played the game a good few times, but that's standard for Japanese games. (Xenosaga is famously hard to follow). The negative points are usually related to the fan reception and portrayal more than Sephiroth's appearance in the games themselves, but if there's a genuine complaint about his appearances, I'd be glad to hear it.

Yeeeeaaah I don't care about all that, I still think Sephiroth sucks. xD
As if he's the only evil character, but OH MY GOD IT'S FINAL FANTASY 7 AND AKSLFJSDJ;JAS;DFL ALL THE FANGIRLS MUST FAP. Sheez.
I've got characters that're at least as bad in my storyline. Sephiroth still sucks. Nothing can change my mind on that. xD

Just because something is popular does not necessarily mean it sucks. I'm still interested if there's a non-fan-reaction-based reason.
And I'm certainly not claiming Sephiroth to be unique, or the best, or anything. I think he's a solid portrayal of the "quietly insane" villain stereotype - as opposed to, say, Kefka, who is a mad clown. Again, certainly a solid portrayal of the barking mad villain type, but a different approach. Sephiroth is well presented, with the end result of his journey in the first game and then the prequels exploring his descent into it, the lead up and so on. That and the way that, in the original game, every time Sephiroth shows up something horrible happens. Oh, and the fact that he drove the main character completely mental. Seriously, at one point Cloud spontaneously hallucinates meeting himself in a room in the inn they're staying at. That's not good.
Among the ways the fangirls missed the point is that Sephiroth's character design is based on the idea of being too perfect, sufficiently so that he looks somewhat alien. Oh, and he never blinks. Ever.

The only thing I kinda like is the TOO perfect part, but that also annoys me. Honestly, all the OH HE'S SO EVIL stuff is kinda.. Eh.. I've seen it before, plenty of times.. Got a villain in my own story who's probably worse, and I'm not being original either... Eh... I just.. Don't get it. Oh well. THIS CONVERSATION BORES ME, too much thinking about an overhyped bland character. It's my opinion, and it won't change :B
Well, if you feel that way...
I'm still of the opinion though that there's a reason FFVII became popular, an that's that it was good.

I'm not saying the game's bad, but it's just SO. FUCKING. OVERHYPED. Sheez.
And Sephiroth isn't that special. NOW IMMA GO PLAY CALL OF DUTY CUZ THAT'S SO 1337 YO, PWNAGE.

it almost looks like a boss in a game =|. ... if i make a monster in a comic, it should use this, lol.
ever carry cobwebby firewood on a gusty night with only the waning moon to light your path? feels kind of like that..
Shit mang, I tried painting a strange chitin-covered critter based off my hand earlier this year, but it didn't come anything as good as this, haha.
Incredible work. Looking at the details I get this feeling of... putting the paint, and having the urge to work it in, but leaving it--- hard to explain. It just has a great sense of precise paint-application and no overworking. :) Cheers.

I used color shaper brand brushes.. like brush shaped little silicone soft spatulas that seem to push around acrylics deliciously, that's a huge part of the texture. This came out when I was experimenting with them actually!
This looks like a physical repersentation of a tormenter of hell. your mind comes up with
some wild stuff Null.. BTW Hope ya feel better soon *hugs*

I know it's suppose to be what your feeling but first impression is a beetle of some sort doing a head on with a spider of some sort and the aftermath of a high speed head on collision. Just my first impression when i looked. *hope you feel better soon*
seriously, it looks like something that might have splattered on the corner of a windshield or something and thanks!
What?!? No freakishly large body parts or squishy orifices? *rage-unwatches*
Thank goodness I just bought more glass plus. Ewwwww.
Pretty wicked uh, thing, there. XD

Very visceral and organic, like a half-lucid premonition. The flesh, it seems, is very much real, even in smoke.
